mercedes clk230
hello all
im hoping someone might be able to help me. I drive a clk 230 (2000) and all was well until the mother in law spilt a can of juice over the centre console !! At first the car would not start, it starts now but sticks in park - i have managed to get it out of park by using a pencil in the flap under the 'drive'.
At present the car does the following...
1. locks in park every time park is selected
2. when put into 'd' or 'r' it slams into gear
3. will not shift up in gear either automatically or using the +/- option.

Has some sort of default been triggered? please help

thanks, gordon

Common fault (when juice is spilt:doh: ).

You will need to try and dry it...it may not be toast.

Take the selector unit out, wash it out in clean water, dry it THOROUGHLY.

It will then work.

any advice on removing the selector unit? i have removed the cover and subsequent buttons and now have a black plastic unit with a circuit board inside....ive tried to rmove this unit, it seems like a click in set up but having no luck.....dont want to force anything in case i further damage it

Job done - thanks dieselman

For anyone in a similar position, i did the following.....
1. removed cover
2. w/s button popped out
3. removed plastic clip in parts around the circiut board that is exposed when w/s button is removed.
3. cleaned circuit board (did not remove) and any area i could get to with damp cloth.
4. dried thoroughly with hair dryer

JOB DONE :bannana:

Many thanks to dieselman, i assumed it would be a gonner :thumb:
