CLS problem

Oooops!! Hick! :D:D

Actually meant dealers as two were involved and they were both great! :D

The diving well......haha!!

Good news Barry, nice to hear the supplying dealer was true to there word & mb Oxford did the repairs promptly, with a bit of luck the car won't cause you any more problems.

Great news and a big relief for all us V6 cdi owners.
Have you had a chance to try out the uprated H7 bulbs yet? Did you have all 4 replaced?
Did you have the MB uprated H7's fitted?
Tried to do mine today, only managed one, back to dealer I think!

Two weeks since my repair and so far the CLS is behaving very, very well! Took it for a blast around the Chilterns yesterday and it put a smile on my face all day! Can't say more than that! :)

The Philips uprated H7s are very good. Much brighter than before, although not as good as the Xenons in my Saab. But, good enough now and well worth the 30 quid they cost. :)

I'm still planning it's replacement, but until then, I shall enjoy it to the max! :D

We'll see.....

My problem is, I keep thinking about the engine and listening to every sound now. Not good.

Also, the idea of a nearly new E coupe (might be leaning towards a 350cdi now..) is very appealing.. :)

^ Is that just to get two pipes at the back :)

I would be more worried about a new 350cdi than i would a proven 320cdi thats now mechanically sound;)

That's clearly my paranoia talking! :D

Maybe after a few more long journeys and a silent engine I'll relax about it....

It IS a gorgeous car after all...

:D well, would I want to go back to one pipe after the CLS' two? :D Even my Saab has two!!

Seriosuly, despite how nice the E250cdi was to drive, the power of the 350 is in another league...

Power V Mph though

shame you cannot have both :)

athough my S211 with D6 isn't bad. If the 350 will do over 40 on a run @ 70 then fair enough :)

Same engine but the 350 has a DPF etc. in reality the newer the car the less trouble a buyer will have in terms of unpredicted costs as they'll be under warranty for a greater proportion of time when the cars in their own ship. The choice between a 6minth old 250cdi vs 18 month old 350cdi is probably in the favour of the smaller car if peace of mind for longer is more important than outright power.

I suspect as the E coupe is smaller the 350 may feel a tad nose heavy relative to the 250 and ultimately the 250 be more rewarding

Good point Steve... The 250 felt very balanced...

Just moved (6 months now) from 350cdi E Coupe pevious I think 23? bpi to x demo new 350cdi 26? bpi W218 cls. The E was a lovely car but was getting tedious to get in and out, had to drive around every car park to find a wideish space only to find the next car has got a bit too close so difficult to open drivers door wide enough to get back in! It must have one of the widest doors on almost any car manufactured. Getting people or our little dog in the back was a nightmare. The new CLS, is a brilliant car, the improved engine more refined, gearbox very good and I'm getting over 40 to the gallon! At present running on Shell power????? diesel, they had an offer on a couple weeks ago, seems to increase MPG to about 42.5. If you like your current CLS take it from me, hold on to it as long as you can until you can afford to trade for the W218 - you won't regret it!

Interesting dennisbj... I might try the new CLS in a few weeks when we're in Russia (you get to take new cars for a looooong test drive there!) :D Oddly, with used cars you get about 5 minutes!! :D

E coupe is a lovely looking car though... :)

Agreed, but...

With due deference to E Coupe owners, of all the other cars in the current range it feels most similar to a W204 to drive, which is saying nothing bad about it - but the ride / handling compromise is nothing like that of a CLS.
