CLS problem

found that I need at least 30posts for posting pictures, so trying now...
sorry for OT...

sound?...

just started my V6 and discover some clicking/tweeting sound from front top of engine, stoped after 5mins running...
ahh, dont like any kind of strange sounds...should I worry about my engine?...:dk:

Get a dealer/Indy to check it out, so at least you know one way or the other...

Update...

Small update. CLS has been with MB Oxford for two days now and the upshot is they are going to do the repair.

The warranty provided by my supplying dealer is covering the cost.

So, I shall continue enjoying my Renault Clio courtesy car (actually not that bad...) for a few more days and then hopefully collect a fully fixed and happy CLS to enjoy for a year or two! :)

Fingers crossed! :D

Thats great news Barry, car should be good as new when you get it back:)

Excellent result mate.

I do hope that this is the last of your troubles, and you are not in possession of a shed.

Sincerely hope so Steve! But, if the worst happens, I'll let it go and move on. I couldn't cope with a troublesome car!

Everything's pointing to a Lexus GS300 petrol....

LEXUS GS 300 3.0 SE 2008 2008

Talking to "my" Lexus client today, NO issues with this car. The hybrid, not so good, but the 3 litre petrol, good as gold....

Sorry to hear of your problems, bp.

Indeed, I have one of the last GS300s in the country (2009) before the GSs went all hybrid.

It'll be 3yrs old in June, and, although I've only done 15k in it, is has been faultless.

Quiet, refined, wafts along, not so ugly in my eyes, and a decent turn of pace with a smooth free revving V6. Well loaded with toys, well put together, and a silky smooth 6sp auto..

I've had it from new, so when the PCP runs out, I'm planning to buy it out right, and keep it as the family barge seeing it's been so reliable.

That said, I'll be looking to MB for my next fun car- I love my SLK and probably will look at a new shape SLK or SL once I am ready for a change.

I have always admired the CLS, but I prefer the new shape and would stick to petrol given the low miles I drive.

Best of luck with your car, hope this is it for faults!

More updates...

Just got a call from the dealer....

Car will be ready for collection tomorrow afternoon!

Bearing repair almost complete as well as a new tensioner and belts. They've also repaired a squealing from the front passenger window mechanism, updated some ECU software and fitted my new bulbs.

They'll run it for a couple of hours tomorrow on test, but have already told me the engine is in good condition in all other respects.

So, hopefully that's it! Their work will carry the normal MB guarantee so all should be ok.

If I can get two trouble free years from this car I'll be happy and will then move it on with clear conscience for something new. :)

Wish me luck for tomorrow! :)

That sounds really hopeful, bp.

Hope they do a great job and sort it properly for you.

Then on to enjoying the CLS as you intended!

Glad to hear that all's going well.

Dealer's tend to come in for more criticism than praise on forums such as this, but I must say that my experience of Mercedes-Benz Oxford's workshop was always positive. If their sales dept had been as good, I wouldn't have bought my current car elsewhere

Glad to hear it, let's hope that's it for problems and it'll be as you expected ti to be when you bought it - then you can start afresh with it!

Some good has come out of the dissapointment you experienced just after getting the car Barry(sounds like mb Oxford have gone over the car & rectified any faults)leaving you with a sorted cls that will(hopefully)give you many trouble free miles:)

I agree. It got a thorough check over and seemed to have passed with flying colours.

Thanks are due to Olly who first spotted the noise and lead to this result, albeit I was pretty p***d off when he told me!! :D

CLS is home!! The love is back on!!

Dealer were great, car dives beautifully and I'm thrilled to be back in it!

So, fingers crossed and time to start enjoying the car as I was meant to! :)

Lovers tiff over. As long as she knows she has to behave or else!!

(Best put Olly's name down as a "Relate" counselor)
