I dont want to temp fate saying that I have had no major issues since I bought mine, so I wont ;)
Did you decide not to sell the cls ??

Was being made redundant so took it off sale, since then I have a new job (start in 2 weeks). Have bought 19s for it + a private plate.

we might be biased but I agree :D

I think we might be but the CLS has that Mercedes style that hasn't aged. I'd you out a plate on it five years newer you wouldn't question it! I guess maybe because it was a pretty unique shape when it was released, looks a bit special in any spec.

I wanted a CLS when i bought my 2nd car but it was too big to own while at uni and i still love the way its curved. Mine is slightly lowered on lowering links so it looks very tidy when parked.

I have recently found a daily car so this has reduced me putting miles on CLS but i do drive it almost daily (even if its for 2 miles to Gym and back). I had CLS for a daily driver for a year and think its perfect daily as well as a beast when you want it to.

I fancy a nice reg for mine , seen a few for not
a lot of money , I would also like to lower it slightly as it does sit quite high .

Go for a lowering module, it allows you to keep your OEM settings (the suspension buttons) as well.

Owned my car for just over 2 years, I have spent over £10k+ on maintenance, adding things and repairs (long term car, so worth every penny). Car is to the point where I want it so all I do now is fill it up and drive it :D

or Lowering links for £80? you still get to raise it if needed around london.

I used a module far more convenient than lowering links or lowering via. STAR, allows you to revert back to original settings in seconds, and at the price good quality modules are now and the fact I was able to fit it myself it was a no brainer for me.
Bought a private plate for my CLS55 "AB55 AMG" AB=my intitials, and the 55 AMG is self explanatory bought for less than 4 figures, I thought was a bit of a bargain myself.
I have had to replace the following on my CLS 55 in the last 11 months (69k miles, now on 77k miles).
Replaced the aftermarket 20" wheels with OEM 19"s.
Two ball joints (replaced all four).
Front discs and pads
Rear discs and pads
IC Pump
All the pulleys and tensioners (ASP Ally billet items, just had slight noise from the upper tensioner).
Both Belts (needed replacing).
Boot shut trims (left & right) as they were cracking.

Sounds interesting will look into those .
I've got my eye in one plate but just can't
decide on buying or spending on a good
service although it's not needed as yet !!

Andrew is there much difference in this car over your previous one, regarding how quick it feels? I'm guessing there isn't much between the Cls & E55 as a rule.

Hi jim , my cls feels equally as fast as the e55k And it seems to launch better prob extra weight Overall it feels taughter and more sporty than the E class and everyone agrees it looks more special ;)

Just to add I did love the Eclass but now I prefer
The cls mainly the look and interior .

Good to hear the comparison. Yes i did like the look of the Cls55's i saw at trax this year. When i first set eyes on them, on the road, i couldn't quite get on with the shape of them. However as i say, seeing a couple of them at Trax they are unique and pretty cool mate.

CLS is lighter as it has frameless doors :)

it's also stiffer as the frame is less boxy

and sportier as it has a wider track (mainly due to wheel offsets and tyre widths)

I know exactly why it does what it does cheers ;)
Not to mention stiffer dampening/shocks and quicker steering .

It doesn't have the Mercedes style, that's why it works. It's one of those few concept cars that made it through to production without being watered down so much it loses that certain something.

The current version on the other hand is Mercedes style which is why it doesn't have the same effect, just looking like a squashed normal Merc, albeit a more attractive one.
