clung .gear box again...

Yep thats the rear one, when i was looking at doing mine it appears the fronts are the biggest culprits rears seem to last forever.

Damn beaten by 60 seconds!

Sorry, got lost now???
What are the subframes mount?
What are the subframes bushes?

Are they different?
Thank you.
Olivier

Check your rear subframe bushes too. These are a common weak point on the 210 causing your exact symptoms..
The rear subframe mounts seldom give trouble..

OK, this is where I got lost in translation, sorry, English is not my first langage.
First quote seems to say its common
Second that its not likely? Is Seldom mean not often?
Thank you.
Olivier

Sorry Brian,
they were two different thread to start but they both merged into the prop.
Oops...

The subframe has 4 bushs/mounts two at the front and two at the rear, what we are saying is the rear 2 bushs/mounts are probably okay and the front 2 bushs/mounts are probably the cause of the noise.

Thank you Lynall. I was a wee puzzled on that. Couldn't figure out. I PM you my mail, if you could send me the PDF it would be great.
And please, email me what you are looking for the bushes too. I look at mine tomorrow. You mentionned you thought it was the clunk too, how did you fix it?
Olivier

I havent fixed it:D i bought the bushs from another mbclub member, stuck the car on the lift started to drop the subframe had a good look at the bushs decided they were fine and stuck the frame back up.

Then waxoyled the car, when i next serviced the car i noticed rub/witness marks either side of the transmission tunnel and these were made by the exhaust brackets touching the floor which was causing the noise.

I am going to fit new engine mounts when i service it next.

Ps, pdf file sent if you dont get it let me know and i will try again.

Lynall

PDF received.
Thank you.
Look like those bushs are passed from one member to another without been fitted :D
It look a wee hard/ complicated to changed them too.
Olivier

They are a pig to change. I have a press tool for them that does not work so well. I usually use a lever and elbow grease.

Humm, look like it would be a lot of elbow grease here and a lot of swearing too.... If its hard to do in your shop I can only think of what it would be on the side road... Humm... Not great I reckon.
Cheers.
Olivier
