Collecting my new C63AMG Saturday

Thats strange the engine/exhaust etc is the same ?

You are right, but it definitely is not as throaty as the old c63, I’ve had 3 people comment on how quieter it is.

What!! Mine arrives in two weeks and I was hoping to recreate the fright my wife had when we test drove the old model before handing over a deposit. That's pants if that's the case :wallbash:

I agree i have owned four c63's and that is not good news.

the coupe that my mate had a test drive in did'nt sound any different to the old model it sounded amazing.
may be they just need opening up a bit.

by the way how did you manage to get the carbon interior foc.
thats probably double the factory price which is £1625 so nearly £3k to retrofit.

The new AMGs are much more quieter...and doesnot compliment the AMG spec..i had a w210 E55 AMG,and you could hear it several miles away..not really a big fun of the new AMGs apart from the body kits..

you have not heard a e63 w212 model it is probably one of the best sounding amg's even the c63 has a monster sound then you have the sls amg which is amazing.

Hello amgmaster, I will post a very interesting post on this forum regarding my FOC carbon trim, it will be with me within the next 2 weeks so I will wait for it to be fitted then I will let people know why Mercedes agreed to give it to me FOC I don’t want to jeopardise this by saying why just yet, as for the noise my daughter got in my car today for the first time and her comment was dad this sounds much quieter so now I’m going to look into a de-cat once the car has been run in, as I don’t know if this will invalidate the warranty etc, but the car definitely does not sound as good as the old C63.

Is it possible that the cabin just has better soundproofing? Or is it quieter on the outside too?

I've been in two C63s, both are pretty quiet actually. Sounds good, but could be more vocal...

Def much quieter, 4 people including me has noticed this:wallbash:

That sucks. The sound was one of the best things about it (and probably the most important reason not to change any part of the exhaust).

Maybe it's because I'm around race cars most of the time, I would pay good money to have any car quieter!
I'm even the black sheep who has an Aprillia Tuono (Italian for 'Thunder') and I'm trying to get exhausts which make less noise than the standard cans.:o
I want stealth from all my road vehicles, especially those which will dip under three seconds 0-60!
I know the AMG sounds great, but even better as whisper than a bellow:p

There are times when i would like

a softer ride
better fuel consumption and range
maybe less tyre wear
but i never tire of the exhaust sound that is ......"the beast "

i like to select neutral at times and indulge in rapid throttle blipping from tick over to say 3000 rpm it serves no real purpose but i like it:D
