Comand "phone error" with Viseeo MBU-1000

STAR diagnosis @ In Autos...

Went to these guys in Newchapel, near Lingfield. They quoted me £45 + VAT which I though sounded reasonable.

Diagnosis only took about 5/10 mins. Turns out the problem isn't with the MBU-1000.

The problem turns out to be related to these posts:

At first, I wasn't aware that the (April) 2001 S320 CDI I bought had a multi-CD changer so imagine my glee when after a month of ownership I discovered it under the carpet in the boot!

I immediately loaded it with CDs! The first couple seemed to read okay on the COMAND, but then the next one stuck! I think because it was a burned CD although I couldn't tell with it being stuck!

Sorry for the individual short posts but I'm trying to rack them up!

Anyway where was I? Oh yeah, I managed to remove the multi-CD changer taking extreme care not to pull the wires. I'm no car DIYer by any stretch of the imagination but this was surprisingly easy!

I still haven't managed to 'free' my CDs (I can see the 3rd one of the magazine sticking 'out').

Aha
There is a fibre optic loop that goes between head unit, BOSE amplifier, CD changer, phone system, voice recognition and back to head unit
(only if you have those options of course)

Anything breaks, then nothing works.

So, if you've removed the CD changer you need to loop the fibre. On D2B cars you need part nr A000 545 33 84

You disassemble the existing fibre change to the CDC, and put one fibre in each end and clip shut. (They are 'keyed', so the fibres wont go in the wrong ends). That will hopefully make your phone system visible to head unit again !

... which hopefully will be solved by the following posts from the same thread:

Anyway, I was thinking of replacing the 'problematic' multi-CD changer with this MP40 player. Thoughts?

Go for it, best thing I ever did was replacing the ageing CD changer with the MP 3 player, 20 minute job

get it here.. :)

Mercedes Player MP40 - Mercedes Player

Fantastic! I'm sold! Will let you know how I get on (unless I'm too embarrassed!).

Would you believe when I asked these guys what I owed them for the analysis, they suggested "call it a tenner for a round of pints"?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the cash (I was going to pay by card), so they said "just forget about it!".

Result or what!?!

MP40 player...

I'm still waiting for this but hopefully, once it's fitted, everything will work just fine.

Thanks richard...

... exactly as you say. As I also said, I'm waiting to install a MP40 player in place of the multi-CD changer. I could use a D2B splice connector (1.98) in the interim but only found them easily available from where I've already ordered the MP40.

... would this happen to be part number A000 545 33 84?

MBU-1000 works...

... After installing my new MP40 player (thereby closing the D2B loop), my MBU-1000 seems to be working now automatically pairing with my Sony Ericsson W508.

Possible problem with microphone?

... however, when trying to make or even when receiving calls, I can clearly hear the people at the other end but they clearly don't hear me. Adjusting the volume control on the MBU-1000 doesn't seem to make a difference. Possible problem with the car's microphone maybe?

Hi Kenwin, Did you manage to get the bluetooth adapter all working ok as i have just got myself a s320 and am looking to buy one of these adapters and was also wondering how you rate. I too am in Crawley! Thanks very much.

Hi Tricky,

No, still not managed to get it to work. The garage I've been to have tried a new telephone controller and a new microphone but no joy. They're taking the car for a day for further investigation.

I'm also waiting for a Nokia 6150 I purchased on eBay to see if it's not the ViseeO that's the problem.

Oh dear. would you like to try it in my S320? I work just off Gatwick Road near to tesco's if that would help. Tricky
