Collected my new (to me) CLS on Saturday.

I have three questions about the Comand system please:

1. Delighted to see that the HD nav now takes 7-digit postcodes, but how can I find out when the maps were last updated? I don't want to spend £100+ on an update to find it is already running the most recent maps.

2. Bluetooth is built-in, which is fine and my phone is now paired and contacts downloaded. In the centre console is the pre-wire bracket. I have a Viseeo bluetooth adapter from my old car. Is this now redundant or is there any benefit from connecting the phone via the Viseeo instead? If not, what is the point of the pre-wire now that Comand is bluetooth-able?

3. What is "convenience phone" which appears at the top of the list of bluetooth paired devices on the screen?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Howdo. The convenience phone is your central console bracket. There are adapters for vsrious old phone types. What year is your cls?

You can get your map version from engineering mode but be careful. you can do some damage by changing things. Easiest/safest way is to insert latest disk and see what it says. Itll tell you what you have and ask if you want to upgrade. If you want to pop over to us we can tell you and also we can tell you if the car needs a firmware update before loading the latest maps.

Your Viseeo is redundant.

Convenience phone is the connection in the armrest. This is for a fixed cradle. One that will use the cars antenna for the call and charge the phone. If you put a cradle onto that connection it will cause problems if you still want to use Bluetooth as the Comand assumes the priority is the cradle if there is one there.

Thank you for your answers. Unfortunately, I'm in North Yorkshire, so not easy to pop into yours, Alfie. It's a 2008 facelift CLS with the SD card Comand. Am I right in thinking the map updates are done via an SD card?

I've always bought my map updates from you, but I assume you don't sell them on sale or return if it's already been updated.
