Hi Guys,

Any idea if it is possible to get a Comand upgrade from a Comand 2.0 with the design for the new CLK (W209) to the face lifted DVD version which is the new install from October onwards. The new unit runs the full length of the central instument facia i would assume you would have to replace the whole panel?

Any info would be handy.

Thanks,

...... the new display comes with every conversion kit - the car sourrounding it comes at no extra cost.

From what I undestand, the old Comand (or regular radio for that matter) is DB2 fiber optic, the new one is MOST so they are incompatible even if you get the cosmetics figured out.

Yeah? So replace everything! You can't even fit comand to an early W211 if it's not got the premium sound option, but if you fit the premium sound equipment it's possible.

Dont' know, at least you would have to change everything the fiber goes to but if you don't have bose, phone or cd changer then it may not matter. I know if I unplug the fiber, Comand still works, just not the CD changer and if you buy the new CD changer that is MOST compatible that should work. The steering wheel controls and dash display are still canbus not db2/most so that will still work. Good luck, let us know how it turns out and take lots of pics!

Comand upgrade?

Thanks for the posts

I have spoken to Mercedes UK head office and got the run around. I spoke to one of the tech guys who said it would be possible but a lot of work. I dont think this will stop me i just need to know where to start and if i will try to retrofit TV as well all in one unit? Having the larger screen with the new DVD Comand unit would be worth it.

What do you think?
