Sorry if this has already been posted but I cannot seem to find a answer. Is there a way to enable the fog light cornering lights on a W203 2001 C200 Kompressor avantgarde with just about all optional extras. Also can folding mirrors when locking be enabled and can you get the alarm to beep when locking and unlocking.
Ive seen a few posts but with no definate answers as to my specific vehicle. It is going to MB to have a new siren for the alarm on monday, so would be good to get it done then.
Cheers

There is something called the Netherland setting on STAR that chirps the alarm, as far as I know it is illegal in this country.

Folding mirrors depends on how the button works, if you need to hold the button in to fold or unfold, it will not work, needs to be one quick press to work as far as I know.

Forget MB for these mods, they either don't know how or refuse point blank.

Give these guys a call. If anyone can they can :D

Cheers, I happen to be doing some temp work at the Mercedes Smart Chrysler Jeep Dodge AMG dealership this week, so if its possible and they know how I think I may be able to talk them into doing it while fixing the alarm, :-) I'll just not transfer their calls otherwise, haha... Any thoughts on the cornering lights?

The alarm unit is prone to getting water in the electronics, i replaced mine and it beeped when i lock and unlock the car, mercedes have a revised/updated unit for £50 odd pounds.

If you want auto fold mirrors i think you need to do some cluster coding and change the front SAM and possibly your door controllers, my cluster is enabled but the SAM does not support the feature, but i am changing my SAM in the new year and will have the feature working soon.

while the car is in for coding, get them to enable fuel tank content, digital speed display and fuel range/mile left till empty.

I have seen people mention having to have miles to go etc enabled, my car already has all those things, digital speed display, mph/temp switching, miles left till empty, tank contents etcetcetc. but mine is only a 2001 model so assumed that it would be standard on all of them... so far the only things I dont seem to already have is the auto fold mirrors, (I have one touch folding) and turning lamps and beeping alarm. He said it was a known issue and that it would require a new wiring loom in order to stop it happening again, its about £100 in total, and having the labour for free.

would also be interested in having the female voice in the sat nav changed to a male one, but not sure if thats possible with my age of command system. seems to only be possible with the facelift version.

The alarm units does not require a new loom only a siren,if your car does not lock or unlock them you may possibly require a new loom, the old design of the siren ment that water would get in to the sirens PCB and corrode the electronics, a new siren will eliminate the issue and should also beep ect.
My car is also a 2001 and i have the a SAM from a facelift model and will be installing and coding it up in january, i will then have auto fold mirrors and cornering lights!

The service guy told me that the water corrodes the wiring to the alarm aswell, but becuase of the two way current and current detection for the tamper simply cutting the wires and soldering on new bits could cause problems and false tamper alarms which would be annoying to say the least, especially as i think the tracker may be connected to that system? not sure about that. so the corroded wires need to be replaced from the main control module to the siren unit. But that the way the new wiring loom would be placed would mean that water would no longer get to any connections to corrode them. without doing so the problem would come back and i would have to keep buying new sirens and wires. I do also need a new spare key which is on order becuase the key had broken... but thats not so bad as it means having the new style key which has lots of chrome on it :-) the old style keys i have are just plain black and boring. :-) so my current main key will become my spare and the new Chrome one will be my main one. although that will mean re storing all the key dependant settings as the spare key is used by my dad to move my car out of his way when needed. Will be a boring half an our switching back and fourth between keys restoring settings lol.

thats the first i have heard about the loom. They usually have a flexible rubber seal so that it stops the water entering the connector, i have not seen this, and i have changed about 8 sirens so far in diffent w203s and have not had a single problem and its been about 4 years since i last changed one. the tracker or a tracker maybe fitted to the sytem but nowhere near where the tech is suggesting it would be to easy to short out the tracker if one was trying to steal the car. it sounds like the tech is creating a job or is there is a slight problem with the loom which i highly doubt.

oh I dont know where the tracker is actually located, I just meant if the alarm thought it was being tampered with becuase of strange currents from thick soldering, it could trigger an alarm and trigger the tracker aswell.. ? but again not sure if it works that way, with my old car the tracker only activated if the vehicle was moved... which seems a bit pointless as unless you have a tow truck there isnt much chance of moving it without some expert knowlege. it has been mentioned that it will activate if the alarm is triggered and not disabled within a few seconds. maybe i should try it one day :-)..... Heres a thought that just came to me, does your cars summer window opening feature work? mine doesnt seem to... I point the remote at the handle and hold the button down like the book says to... but nothing?

As your car is a 2001 there aren't a lot of coding mods that can be done I'm afraid.

Well as I write this I'm sat at my desk at Mercedes Benz Jeep Chrysler Smart and Dodge. :-) Bit of a quite time lol. To make the alarm beep they gave it no setting rather than the netherlands setting. Mirrors and lights were not possible but have been told that by upgrading the sam (which I should get from a scrap yard and not from here) then they will be possible. Everything else mentioned is already available so no mods needed :-)

Alfie when you say there aren't alot of coding mods that can be done on a 2001 w203, what do you mean? What can be done on the later models as opposed to the earlier ones?
As ill be in to see you quite soon, and would like to know what is possible on my car and what’s not and if I need to upgrade some parts to enable certain features.
Regards

Well, on the MOST based cars we can code;

Auto folding mirrors if they are electrically folding and the door controllers are the right revision.
Fuel tank content (gallons) display.
OTG display in the 'normal' mileage screen.
Uk mode deletion
Tyre pressure loss warning
Cornering lamps.
Alarm 'chirp'
plus if you have the parts, we can do paddle shift upgrade on automatic cars.

Plus of course the usual MOSt bus coding and instrument cluster enabling.

Thanks for that Alfie, I have the new front SAM (2006 written on the SAM) and was going to install it. As i want auto folding on lock, i have folding mirrors, and have memory drivers seat. do i have to change the door controllers? how do i find out if i have the right controllers? as my cluster has the option of folding mirrors on lock but does not auto fold due to the fact that i have the older SAM.

I believe you have to be able to fold the mirrors with one touch rather than press & hold the button till they have completed folding. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm that.

It's worth noting that the fog lights used with the cornering function are not the same as those used without.

I had the function enabled on my car. It was okish but nothing fantastic. Whilst looking through EPC I noticed the part number for the fogs were different on cars with bi-xenons (and therefore cornering function, MB had always said one can't have cornering lights on non-xenon cars. Clearly one can but I now now why they said that).

When I retro-fitted the bi-xenons I also bought the correct foglights. Wow!! what a difference they made. The correct fogs have a much wider beam, 110deg against 64deg on the old fogs..

When did the MOST based cars begin?

Cheers
Paul

W203 was April 2004 build onwards which is known as MY2005.
W211 was early 2003.
W209 was October 2004 build onwards (MY2005).

Changing the SAM will probably allow the auto folding mirrors, but it will almost certainly need coding. ;)
