If the first scooby is genuine, the fact we wonder if it is just goes to show how fantastic a shot it is.

if everyone who is saying the first scooby is real - where is the evidence that it is? i cant find any :S

Not possible unless you could change Newton's laws .

Sorry, I don't follow your train of thought. The road is undulating so giving a good take off ramp..

You obviously never drove over hump back bridges as a youth...:D

Is there no video of the Scooby?

wot's with the youth bit> Yeeeeee haaaaaaa

I have NO idea about the authenticity of that picture but just look at all the gouge marks from other vehicles.

Good picture either way, I'd love to have a go at rally driving, I keep hinting for birthday or xmas pressies, it'd be brill! :D

It's probably within the laws of physics to get the car that high up in the air and we don't really see enough of the road beforehand to rule it out, although it would need to be at fairly high speed.

My main problem is with the car just continuing its journey after coming down from such a height. I haven't done any actual calculations, but Newton's 2nd law implies that the forces (1) on the car when impacting with the road (a pretty inflexible object, so very short duration event, no elasticity in the road) and (2) exerted on the bodies of the driver and passengers as a result of inertia should be pretty devastating from that height, which appears to be at least a meter or 2, probably more.

The passengers should be seriously wounded in such a collision.

Also, the heaviest weight of the car is in the front, so the angle on coming down seems incorrect (in fact in movies they have to counter balance cars heavily to obtain the flying effect), and because of inertia again the heavy weight at the front should try and "burry" itself in the road, crumbling the front beyond repair at even modest speeds.

*whistles innocently*

There's a wonderful bit of road on the North Yorks coast that heads to Reighton Sands:rolleyes:  :p :D Not sure you'd get that high though:D put it this way - I never did:devil:

I'm not sure that the impact would be too devastating, after all if a parachutist can survive free fall from 14k feet without his shute opening I wouldn't think the impact in a car with suspension, tyres, seats and without coming to a sudden stop would be that severe.

You are a sceptical lot.......

Here's a (admittedly poor) video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks_QPsvsONo

Here's another photo from a different angle

It's genuine all right. If any of you are interested in rallying then look at the jim clark thread on www.britishrally.co.uk The drivers name is Barry Johnson.

This is a quote from Barry on that thread....

'Anybody know how far we went?

The car went on the limiter on the crest and thats 220 KPH!

When we landed we were both winded and the shockers burst thats what caused the fire, the boot and rear quarters are bent down about 6 inches

Never again i am in so much pain today.'

Here's some shots from the other side of the road.....

Here's the marks where they landed

It was paced out by a marshal at 57m....

Here's video of another scooby that didn't get as far

Sorry mods but after 3 pages of drivel I've just got to say it's amazing just how many people know and enthuse about cars - yet know f*ck all about motorsport.....

I miss the TV coverage of rallycross - is it available on any of the satellite channels?

Mike

I never said I doubted it - just would like to see the vid of it - so will now have a look if that's OK:rolleyes:

ok its real but im still staying along the line of some photoshop work - as to me the car looks alot in the top image then to real bottom one - plus in the top image the car is higher in the air and also past the two tesco flags! but in the real one it not near the flags that high in the air.

so i stay with its photoshop'ed
