:(

Driving home tonight in the wet I approached a double 'S' bend in my car, as I came out of the bend I felt the rear swing sharply round like a powerslide.

Instictively I tried to correct it causing the car to fish tail resulting in my driving head on into 2x Brick walls.

Very shaken but otherwise unhurt I got out in a massive state of shock.

Very helpful neighbours (and one who wasnt) helped me out until The pickup truck etc arrived.

In my defence, it has happened to the guys wall 6 times in the past 3 years.

I didnt slow as much as normal due to it being totally clear of traffic resulting in the tail spinning.

The cars drivers side wing has been totally destroyed, front bumper aswell, bonnet, headlight, Avantgarde grill.

Under the bonnet is so far unknown :(

Pictures to follow :(

Ouch, glad you are ok though. Must be the wet stuff down south, wrong type of rain? :D

Glad your ok mate, I have family in ELY they were saying how bad the rain is up there floods etc..

WOW Killerhertz!
Nice to hear that you're Ok but what a shame about your car. At least the car did what it's supposed to do and died to save you.

On the other side of the coin I do all feel genuinely sorry for you but what would we have been saying if you had reported this was some chav in an Astra.
Just goes to show it can happen even to the nicest people and how easy it is to do,...it's what insurance is for.
Go and have a good sleep now and drive carefully tomorrow.;)

just outta curiosity... were you "cough" speeding a tad ?

Wasnt speeding, if I was it would have only been between 31-35Mph. I didnt slow though round the bend :(

I must say though, I dont care if the w202 only gets a 2 out of 5 in the NCAP ratings, my car saved my bacon.

Just hope its not a write off :( :(

Who left that pile of old bricks in the way?

Your car doesn't look too bad. Clay bar and Zymol will sort that Ok.;)

Serously it looks pretty superficial, especially if it drives OK.

It is quite hard to understand how you did that though K.

Hot Summer days with little or no precipitataion for days followed by some light summer showers can lead to a very slippery road surface. Ironically very heavy rain will wash away this surface grease and the road although soaked in water becomes grippier again. Guess you were just unlucky in your timing. Glad you escaped without injury. Did you check for a diesel spill on the road??

Cheers guys.

I was able to reverse it into the position that can be seen in the pics. So im thinking the engine works ok. (hoping!)

Shock is evil, never had it like that before...

I have noticed the car have little or no grip in the wet before since I got the AMGs. Thread is fine though.

 At least you're ok, mate.

The shock after a crash can be awful. Some old bastard crashed into the side of my car (exactly a year ago tomorrow), writing off my Rover 416 and I was pretty much fu*ked for the rest of the day with the shock.

Not that I'm an expert but your car doesn't look like a write off in them pics, here's hoping anyway. All the best.

Thanks again people

Well, im thinking the cars worth £2000 (if im lucky) will have to see what it will cost to fix :(

Sorry to hear this Killerhertz.

At least as people have said, you're ok - the car can be repaired or replaced.

Maybe it's an opportunity to upgrade in diguise? :)

Maybe... what with the tappetts etc etc...

Still gutted though :(

Sorry to hear this mate. Glad you're okay, hope the news isn't too bad.

Remember push your insurers hard to repair it properly or give you a better settlement. Never take their first offer.

Exactly - W202s are so cheap now - You could bag a nice facelift model with A/C etc for a good price?

Keep some of your goodies to swap over ;)

Makes sense to me :)

sorry to hear about your mishap, glad youre ok.

I crashed my 202 once - I'd only had it a few months from brand new :(

but the car did its job, airbag went off, bonnet crumpled and I was unscathed ... apart from being shaken. The car was repaired and looked as good as new afterwards. the 202 is quite a tough motor .. Ask Shude
