Creaking noise from front

Hi,

Has anybody with C-Class W203 estate plagued with a creaking noise. Mine seems to have these lately, they come on when I've been on the road for a while...seems to come from the above front part (behind the dashboard region)...don't think its a suspension thingy. It comes on when i've been on the road...i.e when the engine has fully warmed up and particularly when pulling away...and over some road imperfections but seem intermitten on the type of bumps....tried just looking in the compartment but can't see anything loose...also tried pressing the bonnet and letting the car bounce and no sign of it...so looks like it creaks on when driving...any ideas....???

I have a C-Class W203; no squeek as you described...but lots of weird rattles.

Just be aware that not all dealers are sympathetic to your concern..see this thread..

My guess is that it has something to do with the plumbing behind your dashboard. But it is a big job to take out the dash...so the dealer may not really want to do it as DCUK may not reimburse him. So he will give you all sorts of excuses hoping you will just live with it. But your warranty does cover you for this.

Yeah, I've read about this before and all the 'horror' stories with stealers that either cant be bothered or incompetent to solve the problem. Its really weird this flippin' sound..its on for a while..then when i stop driving (engine turned off) then start again it disappears...its really a mystery....i mean its not that bad but because the car is so quiet on other fronts, one tends to pick up the creak easily and doesnt merit being a Merc...!!! But again, my car has done 100k miles in under 4 years, still give credit to the car since its been serviced and MOT'd with a clean sheet...suppose you can't have everyting perfect in life...Just as well DC boss is stepping down due to MB not engineered as they were used to!!!

Nevertheless will monitor the creak...THanks anyway...

Mine does exacly the same. Front offside. Occasionally it will be normal and make no noise then at other times makes hideous creaking noises when I go over uneven surfaces. I am sure it is the suspension, not anything behind the dashboard.

Anyway it's going soon so I'll let the dealer worry about it!

Anti roll bar bushes. very common, cheap to fix.

Maybe the engine mount, have it checked, it might be that, usually no one would even suggest this, but I had this problem with a w124, and finally it turned out to be the engine mount.they were changed a few months ago,but turned out it was a faulty one - good luck,keep us posted once sorted

Bottom ball joint(s), cheap and reasonably easy to replace BUT catastophic if they break/fail.
