Some BA$T4RD opened thier door on my car while I was at the gym today, left a slight dent in the door, and some specs of paint missing, now my immaculate paint work is ruined :(... thought that was is but noticed another when I got home....

Im not happy...

Anyone know any decent dent repair people in the Solihull Area? although the dents are minor they are blatently visible to me cos i knew the bodywork was mint...

Will the whole door have to be painted? for the specs or is it easily repaired?

:(

They thanks for the reply,

But I called these guys a little while back, my frind has a clk too in black ... had to leave details on site and a guy called the next day... we explained the damage and he replied saying cant fix as dent in middle of door and cant fix paint work as its metallic and reffered us to local body shop :s we were so confused as we though this is what they specialised in... anyone else had this same problem with this paint colour??? its Obsidian Black...

I think the bloke was too lazy, prob sleeping it off somewhere!

give them a try, you got nothing to lose plus they are rated when the work gets done.

Thanx mate will do tomorrow :)

Just a word of warning - Chipsaway are franchised and depending on what 'branch' you go to, the standard of work can vary massively.
The relatively new phenomenon that are 'smart repairers' would generally be reluctant to spot repair paint damage in the middle of a panel as there is no edge to blend the paint into. I have only EVER found one guy who was a good sprayer and he would never spot repair because the likelyhood of a satisfactory repair was virtually nil.

Go your local Stealer and ask who they use as already stated the quality of the work depends on the individual. Sorry to hear the bad news a sit is a “sickening” feeling afterwards seeing your pride and joy in that state.

As long as you find someone competent they shall be able to take the dent out of a door as they can easily access the dent by removing the door trim… However, if the paint has been broken then you need to find someone who can do a high quality smart repair in the process as well as remove the dent. Worse scenario would mean a respray of the door and a good body shop can blend it in nicely with rest of the body work – they would only need to blemish the front wing and rear quarter panel and no one would no BUT take the car to authorised MB agent/body shop so that MOBILO is not invalidated should you need to submit any corrosion/rust claims in the future.

Bav, try the dealers at Shirley and see who they use to do small touch-ups. Be wary of Chips Away, they did the Shogun door and I could still see it when I sold it.

Shouldnt you be working :D

woah? how did that happen!

At a very dodgy round about :(

it was either frond damage with a bollard or that.... now the insuance company say the only merc speacist free is bodywork solihull and they wont be able to fix untill march.... any ideas anyone????

Ouch!

My OH dented the door of my Sharan yesterday, well the wind did. She had it open and a gust caught it, flinging it open against a brick wall :(

Well that’s a result...!!!

At least your issue with the two initial small door dings will get solved and now the entire side will get resprayed and is guranteed to match (well worth it IMO is you have a excess no more than £275 - its better that you did get the off side damaged then the front smacked by the bollard.

I take it that you do have your bonus protected and that the accident was your fault?

Nah mate the smaller dents are on the off side, they are still there, just dropped off car to Bodywork solihull after making 7 phone calls to norwich union, they said they will call me to let me know when i will get my car back.... if it was a right off i would have got my full money back.. :(

“Off side” is the driver's side where “near side” is the passenger's side. So the door dents were on the “near side” then ?

Well, have a word with body shop about sorting out the two minor dents at least anyway. The thing is if the body shop is fully booked up with other jobs then your car will just get in their way and sit there doing nothing so IMO you would have been better off hanging on to it (less chances of it being damaged/scratched on the compound). My local MB authorised body shop (does all the work for the local Stealer) has several vehicles which they work on BUT during the day they park them all on the side road/foot path when not being worked on and in the evening all vehicles are moved back inside the w/shop and secure locked area (as long as these vehicles are driveable). However, normal procedure is for the body shop to sign a visual inspection of your vehicle with your signature/approval on it and you should also get a copy of this which you must keep safe!!!

um yeah thats what i meant near side :(

That's a shame to see, hope you were alright though.

Surely they should be able to get this done before March, push for it to be seen by an approved Mercedes repairer to retain the 30 yr rust coverage.
