Had to drive to 3 different filling stations earlier today to find diesel,is it panic buying after a refinery going into administration the other day?

Apparently it's recommernced operations again (Metro I think it was that said that today)

What refinery going into administration?

Would it not effect petrol prices too?

One down sawf. Supplied about 20% of the south east. Sensible press said that there was plenty of capacity. Daily mail said that the pumps would run dry any moment...

The one down here(as mentioned by DJPowell),yep the press/news reported fuel prices would be affected if people panic bought & it appears from my experience earlier today thats what happened:crazy:

No wonder the Guy in the Tesco kiosk thought I was buying a lot tonight. I wasn't aware of this issue but a couple of pumps were dry of diesel.

I topped up a bit on Wednesday, a bit earlier than usual, just in case. So that should see me OK for a month, so if there are distribution problems hopefully they will be sorted by then.

The only shortage will be caused by the panic buying! Just like it has so many times in the past.

Some silly presenter actually said on Breakfast tv "best top-up today"!! Dozy plonker ...

I topped up with 76 litres, I reckon I might have got more in, but it was a bit chilly...

They were limiting diesel to £30 per customer at the only garage near me that had any...idiots panic buying. I bought £30 worth, because I was basically on fumes...

^I suspect a lot of people did exactly the same hence the shortage.

This really has become a sorry excuse of a news programme. Fatuous comments, presenters who want to talk about themselves, laugh at their own (terminally unfunny) attempts at humour and make ridiculous ill-informed comments on serious matters (on the rare occasions they talk about serious matters as it seems its much easier to treat what's on the BBC schedule for that night as somehow newsworthy).

Just so I don't appear to have hijacked this thread for the above rant lol... panic buying, or even just breaking normal shopping habits by topping up sooner, in my opinion creates a self-fulfilling prophecy which then validates the poorly researched sensationalism or lazy journalism in programmes like Breakfast and in the Daily Mail et al.

They had run out of diesel at the Shell around the corner from work again. It was like a breath of fresh air! No queues just me and an S320 filling up ;)

A couple of taxis and a van clattered through leaving a cloud of smoke and misery but otherwise quite pleasant :)

The Morrisons, Asda and Texaco near me have all been out of diesel today :( After speaking to some of the staff there, it seems people are expecting a lot of snow this weekend and are hence filling up early!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again the Shell opposite work was out of Diesel, only this time it was also out of normal unleaded!

I filled up with VPower as usual and was unhurried dispite it normally being their busiest time, I was practically the only customer save for those driving through to check the pumps.
