Hi,

I think I have read somewhere you cannot dim/turn off the screen on a W211 COMAND NTG1 unit - is this correct? If not, please tell me how as it drives me nuts in the dark on long drives! (to turn screen off currently I have to turn everything off = silence!).

Best,
Iain

On my COMAND-APS there is a setting to auto-dim the screen. Have you checked the system menu?

You can set it to change to night time automatically or you can set it to be on night time display all the time. Check under the display settings. You can also control the brightness of the screen there too.

On mine I get a red line down the exact centre of the screen every time I turn on the car. It is dead centre, through the middle of the position indicator. Is this a fault or a setting? Sorry for the hi-jack.

Thanks all, but how do you get to the display settings menu? Sorry, newbie to Mercedes :)

Press the SERV hard button and then the Display soft key

My SERV button doesn't appear to do anything? All other buttons work okay - is it broken??

Thats not right.

2002 can be w211 as there are some 52 plated w211's around.

Any more ideas on this guys? I feel like I'm being thick and doing something wrong - but pressing the SERV button on my NTG1 does nothing :(

On a similar note, I'm considering upgrading to NTG2.5 - any reasons why it wouldn't work? (bar possible coding?)

NTG 2.5 is a good upgrade to do. If you have HK though its a lot more costly as you will need a new HK amp.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your head unit if the SERV button does nowt!

old thread , but ive got my answer by the looks of it - night time mode and turn brightness and contrast right down . im a mb newbie also and the toys on the w211 is extensive tbh .
