disappointed with my 220CDI fuel consumption

My W203 is also very good. Even better since fitting one of those digital tuning devices plus loads more torque and bhp all for £38 off ebay by way of a private sale.

well I just drove it downhill stretch(approx 2miles)

My current E220CDI(S212) managed only 33+mpg

But in my last C250CDI(S204) it would easily registered between 45-50mpg given simlilar traffic conditions(light)
Did the same downhill stretch this morning, this time I managed to coaxed the car to change up to fifth gear part of the way, it recorded 46mpg!! But i have to do 34 - 35leptons before it would upshift to fifth gear.

Didn't think one extra upshift would improve fuel consumption by 13mpg!!

I now have confidence that in time, my E220 CDI will eventually beats my last C250 once its ran in, and I just have to speed everywhere else :D

Had a C220CDi Auto hire car a few weeks back. Did 380 miles, mostly motorway at 70 on cruise, but included a 30 mile blast each way over Alston (well recommended as a driving road!)

Total door to door was 54MPG. I reset it on the M6 on the way back and over 100 miles it did 65MPG.

To put those figures into context, they are better (same driving style and journey) than any other car I've had - Insignia 2.0D, Golf 1.6TDi, Mondeo 2.0TDCi etc. etc. (about 30 or 40 different car combinations)

Quite astonishing really as it had far more pace than any of the above and the 7G+ auto gearbox was fantastic - held onto the gears in S great over Alston so well that on the way back I didn't bother with the Tiptronic.

today i achieved 28.9mpg from home to office
I got C180 blueefficiency diesel auto
My wife loves the brand MB otherwise i would have exchanged with BMW
