Used it yesterday for the first time on the m6 roadworks. Bit strange but done the job. And cruise on the clear bits. Avaraged 60.4 mpg from Worcester to stoke and back.

Easy questions...

If you use cruise control and start going down hill, I think the car (2013 CLS W218) is supposed to brake; do the brake lights go on? Not something you can easily check.
Also, if I use the limiter instead, can I just keep my foot down (short of kick-down) to keep it at the set speed limit and the car will automatically reduce the effective throttle opening or does it actually use the brake?

I think if you are going faster than it is set to. It brakes to slow you down. And yes you can put your foot down and when it gets to set speed. That is it. No more

As other have said, it's really good for average speed cameras when there's traffic. Set it to 55 and away you go. Prefer cruise control if there's no traffic.

This is the first car I've had with "distronic" so it's still a novelty to me to use the cruise control and have the car just maintain and appropriate distance.

cc never, limiter occasionally - usually set to about 90 as its pretty easy to clear a ton (+insta-ban)

All the time either cruise if traffic light or speed limiter if not. Main reason I bought car with this fitted. Do not speed excessively but concerned at a lack of concentration could give me points on my license so drive at appropriate speed so that I can relax when driving

Insure 4 cars so points on license would have a big affect on premiums paid and no wish to contribute to government coffers because of alleged momentary lack of concentration.

use CC on the motorway especially on the 50mph Avg Speed zones, and use the limiter especially in areas that I have not been in before - the limiter gives me a chance to focus on the driving and keeping my eyes on the unfamiliar road, rather than on the speedo!

using CC on the motorway I am less tired and stressed, and gives me a much more pleasant drive and a chance to enjoy the scenery at times.

cruise control i used to use regularly, especially on long trips (1300miles one way every way to visit parents)
i didnt know what speedtronic is, having car with it not even 2 weeks, but thanks to this thread, ill give it a go soon

CC all the time but have never tried the limiter. Unfortunately no distronic on mine, though. Question, would CC actually save more fuel on the motorway than driving it manually?

It definitely save some fuel especially on motorway, as keeps revs on the same level.

I also use mine for a.c. speed cameras, in particular they have introduced one bear me on the A38 just before the M5 (downhill on Telegraph Hill/ Holden Hill for those that know South Devon) - it is impossible to stick to the speed limit here!

Electronic limiter to the RESCUE!!!!

haha on your E63 I doubt anything saves fuel :D its the smiles per gallon that count

or litres per smile for our european friends aha
I'm one of the "european friends" btw.
I'll take smiles per gallon still lol
