hi all

i'm considering getting rid of my dpf as it's starting to cause problems.

i have a w204 250cdi.

can anyone advise a rough idea of cost ? i want the internals removed and then welded back together.

also any idea of pitfalls in completing this etc ??

i already have the car remapped so would probably need a tweek to remove the engine management light.

thanks.

I thought it was similar to gutting cats. I've gutted cats by just smashing the matrix to crumbs through the pipe with a breaker bar or pole of some sort. It just crumbles out and there's no need to cut and weld.

Unfortunately mapped derv's cause more soot hence more dpf issues. Once the dpf is removed it will need mapping again to adjust fuelling etc otherwise it will smoke like a train! The regen process will also need to be mapped out. Just remember it is an mot failure if spotted & I dare say Vosa will start checking cars soon if the government continues to try and reduce derv's on the road. A quick camera up your exhaust & it could be game over

Lots of outfits claim to be able to undertake. Not convinced unless recommended by a forum member.

Personally, I would speak to Sam at SPR in Stockport (chosen them as you are M/C based) before allowing anyone to "molest" with my car(s).

Know that MSL in Birmingham are very competent at this task but they are not on your doorstep.

A friendly MOT tester will know how to pass the car.

thanks guys.

t5r+ thank you i didn't know someone was fairly local to me i'll give them a call.
