Drag racing a Merc..

Oh thats Jules, 335ds with a tune are quick:D

Mine has a DMS tune

The New M3's are 4.0 V8. I have not had one beat me yet. Usually they run a low 13sec pass.:thumb:

The V10 M5's with a decent driver can do under 12.5. With a really good driver and plenty of grip i should add.

Hi,

Yes that was me in my old car.

Crikey Carlos, you get everywhere!! :D

I reckon your Dad's car will get around 15-15.2 secs

Ah yes DXB I recall you now from e90post.com. Cyclone1 - are you Jules aka Jude from e90post? What car do you have now?

There is a certain elegance to a genuinely grunty car over a hard worked hatch.

13.9 at 107mph, skinny rear tyres and a heavy car are a hinderance.

In an auto, they can do it all day long, far far easier than a manual imo. Getting it off the line takes a certain technique but still much easier than a manual.

Who cares about the speed, it's all good fun.

Dave!

Ive Beaten times for press cars when mine was standard:thumb:

Yes, me too :D

I was more meaning for your dad, if it's his first go. First attempts can often be a lot slower than quoted manufacturer/press times.

The torque convertor thing... now that could start a huge discussion, that I've had a hundred times!

We play at pod quite often in a silver turbo CRX :D

Was yours the 330D racing a black loud CRx a couple of months ago? - you were both perilously close to 12's and I was mapping/crewing the black CRX on the day.

Our best time atm in the silver turbo is 12.3@119 but it will hit 11's next time out as the 60' was a dire 2.21 due to a knackered clutch. My normally aspirated 2.0 CRX pulled 12.07 @110
Link to a vid of Eds 12.37 run

I will be back at Pod later in the year with the silver car and new carbon clutch and again with the 190 3.2 twin turbo (once the loom/DTA is fitted and I can finally fit the turbos a year late!) I'm looking for mid 12's with the 190 any 11 will be as far as I ever want to take it as like the Rex it will remain primarily a road car.

FWIW I reckon Dad will pull a mid 16 second run first time out - and it probably wont do much better than 15.00 once he gets the hang of it :)

Hi Graham,

Yes that's me, Cyclone1 on most forums (mainly PH) except for E90Post where I am Jude1.

It was me at Vmax a few months back in my old 335d, you had the impressive B5 S4.

I loved the 335d it was an excellent all round car. I also used to love my old B5 S4 (Ebony Black with silk silver leather :)).

I am currently without a car but am on the hunt for either a nice E55, or if this proves elusive then it'll be a CLS55 instead.

If you know of any for sale then please let me know.

Jules.

already paid, i am a long standing member of that club, so i will be running her:cool:

Can you get me in that day?

drag racings fun, been going both as a spectator, rwyber and competior for about 16 years and love it:)

i started off rwybing then competinh in various "quick" street cars, modified golfs, beetles and a skyline, all with passes between 20 seconds and 11.2 seconds.

great fun and properly addictive, i'm looking forward to running my "daily" 280TE just to see what it will do :)

Its like piston heads all over again

Carlos thinks there is no car better than a re-mapped 335d
:wallbash:

lol what times did his re-mapped 335d run?

+1 for all this by the way, I've thrown my Golf up the pod 30ish times and loved them all. Just don't ask for my times, I'm yet to run it post-remap and with proper wheels..

It's a very accessible, very rewarding form of motorsport and highly recommended. Friends have taken their 18-19s cars up and really, really enjoyed it.

335ds are my Golf's favourite snack

Oh, and at some point I'll be racing the C43 against the Golf, will post vids when I do :D
