Drag racing a Merc..

Heh heh, another occasional e90post'er here and have also seen the less-spotted-Mr DXB335d on other forums.

CLK55... I was going to go to Santa Pod at the end of last year but the weather was rubbish the day I was looking at. I reckon < 13.5 1/4 mile should be possible. I have timed 100 in 12.7 with the 1/.4 in 13.8 after easing off (click

Mapped 335d....the fast thing since...well anything.
(Sorry DXB, couldn't resist ;))

Seriously though, have you taken the CLS350 to Santa Pod yet? Do we know the result?

Argh, zombie thread, didn't realise :|

Do you think in 2107 people will still be replying to threads from 2007? The future is going to be a strange place, what with the amount of junk floating around the internet.

To all future people - send oil!

what golf have you got gridlocked?

i have a 1975 mk1 i use as a weekend an sunny day toy :)

Its like piston heads all over again

Carlos thinks there is no car better than a re-mapped 335d
:wallbash:

Well, actually...not anymore!

You see, Carlos had a go in my C63 at the POD back in October and has been raving about it since then. In fact, he's been upsetting a few on e90post telling everyone how much better it is than e90/2 M3's! :D

Oh...when I had an M3 I got nailed everytime at the POD by remapped 335d's so they are extremely quick off the mark (I think I had a few runs against Jude1/Cyclone1 if I've got the right person about 18 months ago).

Now, my C63 vs. Carlos's 335d on the strip...well, I'll leave that for him to tell that story if he ventures over to this side anytime soon! ;)

Ha
I cannot believe that!

I thought it was quite humorous at first but then his reviews of cars against the 335 just got a bit silly, I remember his RS4 vs 335d, and the 335 won, of course.

id like to have raced the 335 in my old 4 pot 1967 beetle ;)

I saw a beetle get 11.2 secs at santa pod last year, lol it was so funny it was next to an M5.

my friend did a 13.8sec and a 14.0 at pod last year in his carbon fiber m3 that was sh*t time so M3's arnt really hard to beat..

(sorry about the bad recording, my bad):o

The fastes M3 I saw on the day was 13.4secs but it's had a few engine mods, they lack torque that's why they get beat by the 335D's but they are alot more fun to drive!

mine ran into the 11 second bracket :)

im hoping the next one will be quicker :)

Love a bit of drag racing!! We should do a merc day at Santa pod, it would be great fun..

I have to agree. Why risk damaging it when frankly there's no point in drag racing a car like this.

Its an auto, so there's little skill involved or input required and its also hellishly slow in drag race terms. Why anyone would want to drag race a 14s+ automatic car is beyond me. :dk:

You only live once. You can buy a new clutch/car. We're a long time dead, so we have to make the most of it!

Plenty of Run What Ya Brung days at Santa Pod, normally what you get is a nice mix of various car clubs/forums, so last one I was at there were 911s, Imprezas and the usual hodge podge. Would be cool to see some MBClub presence :thumb:

Danny - it's a supercharged VR6 Mk2 running about 260bhp. Your '75 Mk1, mmmmm :D

The person who suggests it!!

:D

My car should have all the bits on by end of next month, I will hit the dyno and then Pod to see what it can do. I just need to decide if I should stay with the Kleemann ECU or go custom :dk:.:D

I could give you guys notice and hopefully a few of you can make the trip.

Santa Pod is a great day out ( when the weather holds up), running you car on the strip is very easy, just imagine your at the a light on an open road and you fancy a bit of a blast, you nail it as soon as it goes green, right? Well, its the same thing at Pod, difference is there is no chance of you getting caught by the Police!

Race or not, It's a great fun, especially when you head up there in a convoy.
