Drove the new E350 CDI Coupe

Thanks mbenz76. I would say MB set the pricing across the board. £180 sounds good, I was thinking it may have been closer to £300, but I guess that would be a B Service price then.

Can't recall what they told me the B would be but I have heard something like £290 from somewhere. Again though, not too much different from my last car.

£180 for your A service - wow!
I have just been quoted £257 for my A service (1 year old 1st service). Right - time to phone around I guess....

List is £199, discount for being good friend of sm got me the £180! And yes you're right, time to make those calls..

FWIW, the Inchcape Group dealers list the A service at £209 for the new E-Class. My experience is that other local dealers will price match or undercut if you do the "I'd love you to do my service, but the xxxx dealership will do it for £xxx" routine. Most dealers don't like to lose routine service work because it's (relatively) easy income.

We have an "Official Workshop" which is part of Europa and a full on MB Dealer which is part of JCT600 here in Sheffield. It will be interesting to see if they will played off against each other when the time comes :)

MB Chesterfield are JCT600, I got 10% off but it wouldn't to too hard to match it when you press them.

You have to speak from experience rather than denegrating products you have no experience of. My experience (along with 3 other members of staff who have C-Classes at work) has been very poor. Engine problems and (admittedly not in my case so far) trim quality issues (door handles falling off / electric window motors etc). We all say - never again!
...and now a major engine oil leak which Mercedes Canterbury are going to investigate over the next three days (Mercedes A-Class courtesy car, here I come!). Mercedes - not one of my better decisions!

Wont be to hard to find if it's a "major". It seems you're having bad luck with your motor but then again you could have been as unlucky with a Ford...or Peugeot...or anything else

It's taken me 15 years to get over the bad luck I had with the last disappointing car (funnily enough - German!) I had, a 1995 BMW 3-Series Coupe. I'm only now thinking I'll have to get a BMW next as they're about the only company going against the eco-warriors and still making a decent selection of six-cylinder petrol engines!!

As much as I don't like BMW, they are realising that UK buyers want and need 4x4 as an option on their cars and are planning on offering the option (according to Auto Express).

MB however refuse to convert their system to RHD so we go without. I would have ordered it without question if it were available.

Hi All

Had new software now for about 5 months - engine a little more noisy than when first applied but not as rattly as before software update.

Economy in the cold weather around 30/31 mpg.

Anyone else with the coupe and conti sport 3 tyres noticed they get loud after 10k miles.
Mine is at 13k and road noise is noticable louder then i remember in first 10k miles. how many miles are you guys getting from the conti`s?

Regards

SH

Went into Brooklands yesterday to ask about permanent fix, they confirmed this is still not ready. I was originally told it would be released in December but as yet nothing. They offered to do the temporary reset again but I said I would wait for the real fix...

Mine was done in December and it is still good. Economy has improved but I have also taken 100kg of grit out of the boot and the temperature has improved. I am struggling to get above 20mpg round town in rush hour, which is annoying when I was getting 25-30mpg when I bought the car.

Mine had the permanent fix via an update emailed from Germany on 29th Dec and when the SM returned the car there wasn't any difference in mpg or noise so I gave him a letter rejecting the car.
However after nearly a month driving it, the noise has decreased, mpg increased (I hit 46.5mpg on a run to London the other week) and after adding some Millers yesterday the car is absolutely amazing.
The response in comfort mode feels like its in sport mode and when in sport mode, it is a complete animal! Tiny dieselly noise in the morning when cold but when revving or under load you wouldn't know it was a diesel at all.
I am so happy with it right now and am calling the dealer tomorrow to halt the buyback. Its a shame it took 11 months to fix.

So has the hesitation in C been cured? As I thought this was an economy feature they wouldn't change.

No the delay/hesitation is still there and apparently they will not change it because it helps them hit the new emission standard. (!?)
Although in sport it is not there so I don't see why they can't change it in C.
I appear to have adopted to the delay anyway (reluctantly) but I have noticed it doesn't delay all the time.

My 19ins rear Conti tyres are gone at 9k, the last E Saloon I had 18's and I got 22k on the rears. Same driving style, the dealer said it was the bigger wheel!!

My 18's on my E350 have done 7k and still look almost new. I would bet there's another 7k in them.

I got 12k out of mine...
