Drove the new E350 CDI Coupe

I sort of agree.

There is no point waiting and you have to take the plunge at some point.

However, if it were only a few weeks away when you ordered and the dealer didn't tell you then I would be a bit annoyed.

I am very happy with my car and not bothered about the new engine due out. After all, as has been said, the 540nm or whatever it is that this model has is more than most people need anyway - it's certainly more than enough for me - so I am happy with my lot!

The SM had an update from MB Germany today, they said to resubmit my case in 2 weeks time and by this time there will be an add on for the diag machine to rectify this issue.
This doesn't sound like an update as such, but the SM was saying how there was a fault on some new Mercedes (forgot which class) whereby the fuel tank pressure caused the cars to fail yet an update on the dealers diag machine enabled them into another option to tweak the fuel tank pressures.
I am guessing that this update may give the dealer the ability to tweak the injector/fuelling software by opening up options in the ecu (this is my take on it).
As my complaint also included the delay in setting off in C mode he is confident this should also be rectified although I am sceptical.

Is this something specific to your car or something every dealer will get?

Mine is booked in for Friday but if something new is due it might be worth me postponing.

Not sure how they roll these add ons out? I would have thought thought they would unlock the facility on all machines, then surely if a customer experiences certain issues then MB will say to apply fix ##?
I will find out more in a couple of weeks but the SM was explaining how everything is locked down nowadays and they only open up certain settings when it is an absolute necessity.

Had to cancel my visit to the dealer today as I had a meeting at work I couldn't get out of. Rescheduled for in a few weeks.

Also got my recall letter today for the power steering pump, so guess they can do that at the same time as well.

what else are they looking at other than the power steering pump.

Mine had the inj reset a couple of months ago. Still feeling good but ever slightly noisier. The C mode start lag is also a lot less noticeable.

For the recall, just the PS pump I believe. I called them to see if it can wait a couple of weeks until I'm booked in and they said it can but told me to listen out for the warning signs and if I hear anything I don't like go straight in and they'll do the recall while I wait.

The recall could be as quick as looking to see if it's from the problem batch. I am a bit surprised that the factory don't know what batch went into which car.

Had the recall carried out today, asked them to carry out any updates at the same time. SM informed me that they did an injector reset and software update. Had to wait 2hrs, but worth every minute as the car is so smooth now and very responsive. Took the long route back, the car is just fantastic to drive now:thumb:

That's good news then.

Mine is going in 1st week in December so looking forward to a quieter drive. Just hoping the scare-mongering press are wrong and we won't be snowed in by then!

Mine is still perfect after the update several weeks ago, and I am loving the car.
I do get annoyed that they could release should rubbish for me to beta test for more than a year. I am thinking of writing to them to ask for compensation. Any comments guys?

Good luck with the compo Steve, I think once mine is sorted I might do the same and give them my history of dealer visits.
SM resubmitted my case to MB factory on Tuesday after requested to do so by the factory 2 weeks ago and hopefully he will call me tomorrow to say I can take the car in on Saturday for the supposed final fix.

Has anyone confirmed that it's due to overfuelling? Because I can't help but think if this is the problem that it could have caused some damage to the cylinders etc.

got the power steering letter last week. The unit failed earlier this week. Lost all steering. Luckily not far from home and managed to limp back.

Fixed now. Just my luck. Get it fixed asap I say. If the fault had happened on the motorway there would have been a problem cos the steering was basically unusable.

Got a trip to London before I will get my car in for the recall so hope all is well. I called the dealer the other week and asked if I needed to come in soo er and they said it was up to me but told me what to listen/feel for if it was on it's way out. They also said if I was even the slightest worried to just pop in and they do it immediately even without a booking.

30 minute call to the SM, he said that although there were update disks that arrived yesterday the factory have stated that these will not be a permanent fix for the clattery noise.
They hope to finalise a release today with permanent updates to be rolled out in 2 weeks.

Obviously constantly being strung along since I reported this in Feb so will be contacting MB UK to raise a complaint and even though my car has its first anniversary this month I will be requesting a full refund or a new car.

If anyone else would like to complain then the number is 0800 800644.

Mine's remaining more refined since the "permanent" update but the idle speed changes from 600rpm to 750rpm several times during cold journeys until its fully warmed up... It used to stay at 750rpm while the DPF was purging but now it only stays at 750rpm for a couple of minutes...

Mine is booked in for its first service tomorrow at Brooklands, they will be addressing the steering recall issue but also told me there is now a permanent fix for the injectors to address increase in engine noise.

I will be picking it up on Friday and will let you know how it is next week.

After reading your comment I emailed the SM lastnight to say I would call in on Saturday but he emailed back this morning saying the factory hasnt sent the add on's yet for their machines.
Ironically 1 hour later MB UK called with an update on my complaint. They said that the permanent software update will be released before the end of December to fix the issues. I asked if it was a disk that they sent or is it updates "over the wire". He said it was over the wire and when I asked him how others seemed to be getting the updates through he wasnt sure as he had received confirmation from the Factory on the 3rd Dec saying it would be the end of December. God knows, I guess it will be a christmas present anyway.

Mine's going in for annual service, recall and a injector reset (if no perm fix available) on 20th Dec so hopefully permanent fix will be ready by then.

Mine is also in on 20th December for the temporary fix! Hope they can make it permanent.
