Dyno Day SSR

Could not get the whole graph to match as the scale was different so this was as close as I could get.

Simon's torque starts off higher but does not peak in the same wasy as Billy's early on, Billy's HP also continues to climb to redline.

This chart is from 2.5k to 5.5k which was Simon's peak

Paul - you are a clever sod! It took me ages just to get the attachments to work - lol!

Please find my latest dyno run, Approx 582.3 BHP and around 640ft Torque, not bad for a EC Pulley and EC Remap, no other Mods....:bannana:
3 hard runs and no cooling problems.

Its running a bit rich like the others, so I have asked Jerry to have a look my file.

Simon will be along later, great bloke and great to meet up with him again, even treated me to breakfast...He needs a EC cable if anyone can help him out. As I will be sending his file off to Jerry later.

That is a good graph, forget the numbers the curve is the important part very smooth torque curve holding right through 4k and hp keeps climbing right past 6K. You could probably shift 1/2 a point on AFR, check with EC what they are commanding.

Thanks for this Paul, what do you think about my run, can the car be improved, Charlie said its was running rich and was a safe map, what do you think? I was planning to get shot of the CLS in Sept and getting the bentley GT W12, But I have changed my mind now.

Is the AFR rich or just a safe compromise? Where would you want them for optimal? What's stock AFR by comparison?

Sorry for all the Qs :)

looking good guys, some good power being put down there!

I had my latest revised map put on when i was at Ollys but had cruise on all the way back so havent driven it since, will arrange another power run at SRR just for comparison.

I am seeing a little bit of black dust so a little bit of belt slip is occurring, so i may go a tad smaller belt wise whether that will help who knows.

For a 55K 11.8 is about right, its also important to understand what is being commanded vs actual it can hep guide you to improving both performance and safety.

Here's a graph I had last year and the map was comanding 11.8 but could not get that rich so check fuel pressure and then look at increasing injector size.

This was after larger injectors so now running a little rich so will get it leaned out a small amount (sorry about picture quality)

The first graph is power at the wheels the second at the flywheel.

Billy - yes you are hitting 10's on your AFR so first get Jerry to check your latest file and what the map is commanding in terms of AFR. Its always important to understand if what being delivered is different to whats being asked.

Alps - Billy has changed his belt which I think I will do too. Not expensive either, order from amazon US, its a Gates K080496HD V-belt about $34 plus postage.

You achieved good bhp on your last run at SRR, out of interest what was your torque figure like?

Paul

What do you think, does my AFR look about right now?

Simon/Billy

What gear were the runs in, it can make quite a difference to AFR's?

Jerry says 11.8

Both cars were put in dyno mode. I'm not sure if there is a variable in this mode, I assumed not but.....?

Thanks for that info.

Last question: Where are you measuring the AFRs?

Paul

They look good, I would not change them unless you can log your AFR's while on the road. Next time you are in a dyno also ask for IAT's and Boost (if its forced induction) and make sure they are running a 55K in 3rd gear.

On most dyno's they use a sniffer at the exhaust, if you have a wideband AFR fitted you can ask them to use that instead.

Thanks. Was just wondering how on a std. V set up with 4 tail pipes you could monitor AFRs with any certainty.

The standard setup is twin pipes that have 2 connecting pipes one just before the secondary cats and 1 in the center resonator. The tail pipes come out of 2 rear boxes, you could if you wanted to monitor each bank of cylinders fit widebands to each of the main pipes.
