Hi everyone,
I was visiting my dealer to buy a new E-class, was told the new models interior will always be black (except for alpaca grey). If I order beige color interior only seats will be beige and the rest all black. Kind of surprising because one of my friend got an e- class bought in march 2012 which as all beige interior.
Does it mean they are introducing new model now or do they just thought of stoping the options? Anyone had similar experience?

Thanks
Sanj

Thread resurrection but applicable on new 213.
The colour options available for choosing for new cars are so modest that it's almost putting me off for even thinking of changing my current S212. What we basically have to choose from are
3 shades of Grey
2 shades of White
2 shades of Black
1 shade of Red
1 shade of Blue
and 3 colours of interior
Black
Hazelnut
Beige
And it is almost identical with Audi, except they have more shades of Grey.
What happened with other colours like Green, Brown, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Maroon?
S213 in British Racing Green or Poop Brown, Metallic Purple or Maroon would be a cracking car.

MB seems to be in a "we don't really want to sell any cars" phase, by restricting the colour and other options they offer. I recently ordered a new BMW X5 because the GLE is only available with a black interior, and anything other than cars already in the production schedule are possibly a one year wait - so no chance of a towbar. The dealer said they could/would not retro-fit a towbar, and MB UK HQ dictate what colours/ options come into this country. He seemed rather depressed!

I must admit....when I was looking around for my C class coupe, I was really hoping for a change of scenery when it came to the interior...my last 4 cars have been black. I'm sure you all know this but, the standard 'black' interior is Artico leather (i.e.man made), this means that different colours would appear to be an expensive option as they were classed as 'leather'........The car I ended up with has a rather nice tan interior, but this was a £700 option, and is quoted as a 'leather' interior.....I'll be honest though, I cant really tell if its just a different shade of Artico, or actual real leather. I know other manufactures whose cars come with 'leather' simply offer different colours as a no cost option.....

Yep, the 'Blonde' interior in my Volvo was a no cost option. Just one of the reasons I ended up with this car.....along with the heated two tone leather wheel etc. etc.
Oh! and it drives rather well too!

Has MB ever offered these colours?

Green, Brown, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Maroon?

Just being honest, I really liked the car, especially the neat little touches like the gas struts holding the folding flap in the boot floor storage box open, it had a lot to commend it. I just felt I could never live with the interior, main thing was the sat nav screen which is longer that it is wide, that just looked weird.

It's not that I haven't enjoyed owning a number of Mercedes cars with light interiors, but as the OP says, it just that there are becoming more difficult to come by now!
Can you name all the models?:dk:

I might be wrong, but my 17 model C Class has grey leather. Looking up the configurator on the new C Class, it's not available, just like the new E Class.
I suspect that new colours are added as the years pass, but at launch, new models are always restricted to two or three colours. I bet in two years from now, all sort of leather colours will be available for the new C & E Classes.

So which way do you normally look at an A4 sheet of paper?
I always use my iPad in portrait mode to control my hifi, so it seems very normal to me. One man's normal is another man's weird!
For one who puts function over form, I confess that light interiors are more difficult to keep looking spotless than the 'black holes' of completely dark interiors. However, I find a light interior simply feels a more pleasant and a more special place to spend time.

I’m very much a fan of light interiors but I disagree about them being harder to keep looking clean. My current W204 C-class has as much light colours as I could spec and it’s those things like the light grey seats and door cards that I find show less dirt than the obligatory black elsewhere. My old W208 CLK with light grey just about everything always seemed to look a lot cleaner inside - although I have to confess that a 4-year old daughter probably doesn’t help!

What he said, except I don't have a four year old daughter and his has never been in any of my cars.

To be fair... you use a mobile phone in portrait mode usually as well.

Only my theory here but I guess widescreen SATNAV has been the norm for so long it as it was based on a small TV screen (after all, you could watch TV on them in the early versions).

Now that Smart mobile phones have become the norm over the last 13 years, it seems logical Volvo have gone that way.

Saying that, it will also take some getting used to for me too as the screens in my car are both very widescreen!
