My E200 has Yokohama 215/55/16 tyres?

What do MB recommend and supply from new.

The car is a Singapore import and I thought they lacked good grip when wet compared to any of my previous cars - I had a near miss on a winding road which I am very familiar with and was not doing any excessive speed:o . Threads are all very good. I was wondering if it is anything to do with the fact that the tyres were specially for the climate in Singapore (as opposed to Ireland!!!!!!)

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Could have been so many reasons why you had a near miss. I nearly lost Edna last Friday on a roundabout in Preston. Wasn't going fast at all - just a steady pace round - unfamiliar territory and all that - when the back end started going sideways and I lost all control. Had I been gping any faster I would have lost her and we would have got rather cosy with a lampost.

I got off the roundabout and pulled over thinking it was something wrong with Edna. Only to see a biker nearly go over and then a number of vehicles going through the same - turned out to be diesel on the road. Biker called the plod - but it was a scary experience I can tell you. So are you sure it was your tyres and not the road?

If it was a one off I'd be inclined to blame the road surface - perhasp wet and greasy after all the dry then rain., If it happens more often then I'd blame the tyres.

Would be better to post the exact model of tyre as well as manufacturer. Too many possible explanations for why your incident happened from ---worn tyres with not enough tread ---incorrect tyre pressure---- greasy road surface--- hard tread compound ( as you correctly said) --bad shockers allowing excessive body roll/wheel hop---too heavy a right foot---inoperative or missing stability control electronics. I personally like high silica content rubber for its better cold weather characteristics and many european manufacturers make these now. try http://www.tyretest.com/ for some reviews of current offerings.

Same thing happened to me on a roundabout, the back end "skipped" and me having checked the tyres pressures the day before and found one low thought I must have had a flat but all was ok, presume there was oil or something on the road.

I'm just about to buy a pair of Michelin Primacy tyres, certainly NOT the cheapest, but like my old sergeant used to say, "Cheap 'elmet, cheap 'ead." He was never a one to pronounce his 'h' is :)

Excellent choice. I have the Michelin Pilot Primacy on my car. I have tried different tyres over the course of the years, but Michelin remains the best in my book :).

:D I was reading the link I posted and had to laugh...

Football has just been mentioned and someone   dared to mention they were a gooner. Even this forum doesn't usually let me mention there dastardly name. ****nal (drat it does now :o ) anyway I digress.

The reason I'm posting this is because:

The GreenFleet Industry Innovation Award recognises the attributes of Primacy HP and the substantial research and development efforts that Michelin has committed to this latest generation of car tyres.
The GreenFleet Awards, presented by TV motoring broadcaster Tiff Needell at the ceremony held at the glittering new Emirates Stadium, home of ****nal FC in North London

:D :D C'mon you Spurs

John

So, does that mean no more Michelins for you? :D
  No more watching that traitor Tiff what's 'is name :o :o

I bet White Hart Lane was being used to play football, blooming hospitality entertaining no good gooners with there posing stadium. Who mentioned football? Own up who did it?? :D Football stadiums to present awards for making tyres, I've never 'eard the like. I bet ****ne Wenger didn't see it? ;)

I'm getting embarrassed having these tyres on our car :o

John the embarrassed

Are you typing the code - if so it's upper case D not lower case d

:d :D

Yes, maybe...
I edited it and they worked, then they didn't, I'm confused!

I've seen it do it before.. but if you make sure they display as capital D then they should work...maybe.:D :D

:d :D

Just testing the theory ..
