Ah, very interesting . . . I have checked the original registration document to find that my 300E turbo arrived on 22 May 1990. Further, its "sports chassis" option goes by code 650, not 653, and is dated from 01/12/88 to 28/02/93. From my Coupé it appears that the 653 option began on 01/01/90.
