E63 Economy Prediction

Did you have the lights on? Apparently there was a scientific exercise done on here that showed an increase in mpg with them off.
Not sure if it was published in any journals though.

You don't get something for nothing. Lights use energy!

Headlights off DRL's on.

This is the most annoying thread ever!

I've now realised that I should have bought a E63! Damn you and you fuel efficiency claims :)

Me too. I see those kind of figures on my commute to work with only a little fun and two or three hundred horses less.:wallbash:

You'd fall asleep at the wheel if you drove the way I drove to get 30mpg .

What's your MPG for a normal tank?

I've recently started using Shell turbo V max Nitro super diesel in an experiment that I may get a few more mpg..... OOh and the fact I now have the complete Lego Ferrari set :)

I don't really know - I just fill it up (lots and often).

^ Probably best not to look

I was looking at a ML63 (for sale) on line and the picture of the dash showed 16.8mpg. I guess yours is more likely to be 20 / 25 over a tank.

If your ever in Cheshire with the beast I would love to see it :)

^ I didn't know that...

I just assumed in normal driving 20 to 25 would be possible?

so somewhere between 0 and 19mpg average :)

My "After Reset" says 15mpg over 4000 miles. The problem is that the majority is city driving (poor mpg) and the open road stuff tends to be point and squirt (poor mpg).

Mega smiles per gallon though .

I'll come up one day after winter to have a look at the house :thumb:.

Around 16 is probably a true estimate of an E63's "economy"
I do a lot of town driving and struggle to reach 16 anytime I drive my E55K

Are the earlier large petrol engines with less emission gubbins better on fuel? I'm asking as I fancy an older big bus for next summer, and I notice my Euro !V diesel returns poorer consumption than the previous diesel engine that was less compliant.

I used to run a Jensen Interceptor that was a little thirsty

If you mean the previous non supercharged W210 E55 model from '98 - 02, I think you will find the economy very similar to the later W211 without the better performance.
Not sure what an E430 is like for fuel though.
