I am about to change the front pads on my W202 and have ordered EBC Green front pads, but looking at the club202.com site, the majority of people there do not recommend the EBC green pad as apparently it warps the disks. This seems to be the opinion on that site.

I need to get the pads changes this week and would rather not land up with damage to the disks as a result of trying to keep the wheels clean.

What do any of you folks who have experience of the EBC Green pad have to say on this matter ?

Can only people that have used this pad please reply with their experience, as I don't really want to get into the "theoretical" replies.

Thanks.

Are OEM pads not capable of doing what you need?
I haven't had any trouble with them .
I assume you are goig to fit new disks too?

I have used them for the last 10 years and never had a problem on several cars. I have also never heard of them warping the disc on here or any other sites of the 4 that I use.

If they could How ??????

Just fitted them to my E220 Coupe along with drilled and vented disks. First impressions are that stopping is not quite as good as I expected, however they will need time to bed in. Once they have sorted themselves out I will comment further.

I have used them on a coulpe of cars. One did end up with warped discs at the front.

I fitted EBC pads to my previous car (RX-7) along with vented/drilled discs. They improved braking and there was never any fade - even during hard use.
I did notice an increase in noise but, I don't know if this was the discs or the pads.
I'll am considering changing to EBC pads on my current car - because they reduce brake dust.

The Red ceramic give even less dust and they do bite well

I'm happy with my green stuff pads and experience no problems with warped discs, the bite does gets stronger as the pads warms up and gives you that extra confidence when braking from high speed

Make sure you use quality brake discs and bed in the discs properly and they should be fine.

How? Is it a case of bad fitting?

Cast iron is a very unstable metal, though hard to give an exact cause, often a high speed hard stop can make the disc warp, this could be due to the brake pedal remaining depressed after the stop causing uneven cooling of the disc.

Warping of cast iron has plagued cylinder heads for year, one again due to poor or uneven cooling from the front of the engine to the rear. When welding, it must be warmed up to 400c but the cooling is where the problems start

Had ebc red stuff on my previous MB, less brake fade and better bite once they had warmed up.
Would i buy again ????? deff yes.

Has anyone else noticed increased noise with just fitting EBC pads. Am thinking it may of just been the discs, but I dont know why this would be.

OK....thanks for all the feedback. The disks I will be using are my original mercedes ones that have done about 30,000 miles.

Will give it a go and see what happens.

Most of the reason for warped or delaminated disks is holding the car on the footbrake after repeated hard stops , causes uneven cooling then......

Use the handbrake/park

Go to www.club202.com and put in EBC. The concensus is not to use these pads as they warp the disks.

Not being a member I cant access the page, the whole point is how can EBC pads warp the disc.

As before no such postings on Benzworld or MBworld or even here
