Hi Grahamcarvlin
The older I get, greater is the realisation about how much I don't know which I why I ask questions.
Good thinking, that, if I may say so. And thank you.
Very wise, and something more than one commentator on this forum should take on-board.
"Being a good driver means that you never stop learning. To improve your skills you must be prepared to take responsibility for your own learning. This means that you need to constantly review and, where necessary, adapt your driving to maintain standards and improve techniques. Vehicles and driving conditions are constantly changing, and your skills need to keep pace with this change, otherwise they will become outdated, inappropriate and dangerous. Whenever you drive, regard it as an opportunity to reassess and improve your skills. Only by constantly developing your insight and knowledge can you fulfill your responsibility to drive safely and effectively."
The subject suggets that it is wrong to drive at this speed on public highway, and rightly a punishable offence.
The question is what is the right punishment for this offence? Suggesting that a custodial sentense may be inappropriate is not the same as condoning this behaviour.
