ESP-That got you talking! Now more clarity

I've repeatedly said that the technology is ok, but that its no substitute for driving safely. I don't see how anyone can argue this point.

The point is that you can be driving safely (within any normal definition) yet still have a situation occur where an aid like ESP would be of benefit.

Exactly, it is a driver aid and nice to have, and whats wrong with having a little help with anything, I mean that when the box fell off the lorry, the driver did not just sit there and do nothing, he steered round the offending box, the ESP enabled him to do it safer, no more,no less than that

Hardly - there is a great deal of difference in the way a coach should be driven compared to a 300 HP saloon car .

Did you read the link?

Similar requirements for fitting ESC to light vehicles such as passenger cars are expected to be agreed in 2008

I'll have you know I have my own office (all this money y'know)

I see, an office paid for by innocent motorists' parking fines .

so most of it went onto the monitor/wall ;)

Ah, so later on you're going to secretly swap it for someone else's monitor? :D

Back on topic(ish). Didn't McLaren have a system a few years back (Hakkinen era) where the driver could selectively apply the brakes on one wheel to help cornering speed? If I remember it was ruled 'unsporting' as Ferrari didn't think of it.
