1st First turn of the ignition key, the car displays "ESP UNAVAILABLE"
Start the engine and it says "ESP FAULTY VISIT WORKSHOP"

The car has a had a replacement squib ring, Airbag ring. and it was been re calibrated but it still displays the above faults.

Code reader

C1161 rotation speed and lateral accelerator sensor
C1173 steering angle sensor n49 plausable error
C1036 steering column module n80 control unit
C1172 steering angle sensor n49 internal fault

It's a friends car just wondered if anyone has any ideas of whats up.

Right part number, clock spiral set up right, steering wheel dead straight?

What code reader shows for those faulty sensor readings (steering angle, accelerator sensor)?

You may need to carry out a "road test". Its a technique that is used to set up the esp system. The test is on a Star and it involves driving at a certain speed with the steering at certain angle. I can't remember it of the top of my head.

Are the values of those items logged with codes have workable live data? Eg are you getting a steering angle value?

Thankyou Sir, i will advise

I will find out re Live data :thumb:

Hi, @BlackC55

Steering angle was within tolerance, "0.15" live data, steering wheel was straight ahead engine running

Many thanks perhaps Star will be required:thumb:

I had "Check component N49 (Steering angle sensor)" on the E55.

Stripping and cleaning the sensor sorted it.

Thankyou Pat i will let him know, i remember your post :thumb:

Found your post :)
