Ive just bought a 220 CDI 203 estate and when you slow down in traffic there is an awful exhaust fume smell inside the car. The exhaust all looks fine, the injector washers where leaking but have now been replaced but it is still there? I wondered if there was some sort of ventilation flap or grommet in the boot area missing? Any ideas Thanks

Just ordered the breather housing for the cam cover any other thoughts anybody?

Maybe the pollen filter has been so contaminated with the old ex gas it needs a new filter?

Linds you say it's when you slow down in traffic are you sure your heater/ ventilation system is not picking up the exhaust fumes of the vehicle in front.Failing that check the seal on the tailgate of your car

Ive already changed the pollen filter, I think it appears to be coming from under the bonnet as it seems worse with the blower working. Thanks

Try removing the engine covers and see if there is any black gunk left from leaking injectors.

You have had the injector seals replaced but they may not have cleaned the head sufficiently and the old deposits are making the smell when they heat up.
