Yes, my old SL with 65k was holed on the drivers side and the next one I had with 68k was also holed

I was thinking, with the sl60amg being so rare, if the engine goes i guess its curtains.

Surely you'd rebuild or repair any damage, on a car worth £10k+ you're not just going to tow it down the scrappy for an engine problem

Surely you'd rebuild or repair any damage, on a car worth £10k+ you're not just going to tow it down the scrappy for an engine problem

to get replacement sl 60 is almost impossible unless u find a cheap rear shunter for the engine, alternative is 500 engine or v12 600 to put in. otherwise i am sure the car will fetch around 5-6k for spares to for other sl60 owners recycling the car.

That's why I'm saying you'd repair any faults, rather than just replace the engine

I'm sure on a rare car like an SL60, it would be worth fixing

The problem would be (say) a cam chain failure, I doubt the engine would be economically repairable and you'd never find a replacement. Put in a different lump and it's no longer an SL60 ...

No hardtop, no number plate to do a hpi check and no service history.
When there are 2 for sale for 12k on autotrader with the lot.

yeah but it beggars belief, why would you pay 200 quid more for the fleebay one which sounds doddgy as hell. Surely 100k service history is better than 60k with no history

I can't believe it went for so much. No history...could mean any mileage or any condition. Big risk on an SL60 AMG in my book.

I would happily sell the buyer mine for that kind of money!
