Hello everybody. I own a 9/2008 w204 c180 k.
i bought a new steering wheel with airbag from facelift perhaps from e212 coupe.
It said that fits W204 R172 W246 W207 W212 W219 X204.

I searched that some people who installed facelift everything worked except the lighting of buttons so they had to change the steering columne from facelift.
When i installed mine at mercedes dealer nothing worked, only airbag.
No buttons no horn.
He said me then that i have to change the streering column of facelift.
but he didnt know what part number to give me because there are so many feom facelift depends of the year of the steering wheel.
can this wheel work and if yes what part number i have to find? i have cruise control.
Thank you.

pretty sure it will have to have the ECU recoded on star to make it work, but I've also seen the reports of a new column being required sorry can't help with the part number

Hi all,

I find myself in the same situation as the OP. Bought a complete facelift steering wheel and airbag from an ebay seller (who didn't mention that the airbag connector retainers were broken off!) and have just fitted it to my 57 plate w204, like the OP none of the buttons on my new wheel work at all.

Does anyone know if a Mercedes dealer would recode the ECU to make it work or would I need an independent with star?

If I need a new column can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Cheers,

Jon

Nobody? :(

I spoke to my local main dealer and they have said to make it work will require "extensive rewiring of the car" which, to me sounds like "we don't know how to make it work so we're going to put you off".

Speak to Mark or Richard at comand.co.uk they will be able to advise what , if anything , can be done

Sorry to bring up an old thread but i belive the front sam just needs a bit of coding to tell it there is a different wheel on there

Ive just bought a new wheel too
It came complete with steering column too
Ill be on the search now on how to code the buttons in

Dave
