Favourite Shampoo

5l of lather is 35 quid and as it's on 3 for 2 at the mo you could buy 15l for 70 quid so it hardly breaks the bank but on a Normal amount of us a 500ml bottle is hardly high end price.

Compared to other brands it doesn't have extra glossyfiers etc in it and it cleans amazingly, 10ml will clean a car meaning 50 washes for 10quid is pretty cheap to me, it's also wax and sealant safe...

At the end of the day people who take an interest In detailing will always clash with people who aren't and think that t cut and turtle wax are all you need.

I've recently changed from Turtle Wax to Meguiars Gold Class following a recommendation from Alps.

So far, I'm impressed :thumb:.

I have used many car shampoos in my time (alot mentioned already).

IMHO, you cannot beat Aldi's Carnuba car shampoo. 3L for £3.

Look at my detailing threads and that is all I use now.

Aldi stuff is generally good so will give it a punt many thanks:thumb:

Meguiar's Gold Class for me. Works well on Obsidian Black. No streaking and a good shine.

Liked using Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Shampoo after trying Swissvax Car Bath which didn't work out very well for me. Have now switched to GTechniq G-Wash since having their sealant applied which works really well and has a rather nice fruity smell :)

I like the Muc-off Ubershine. Only 1.99 @ Screwfix:thumb:

My personal favourite shampoo's are:

Out of the sun:

-dodo juice born to be mild.
-chemical guys mr pink.
-chemical guys glossworkz.
-Zaino show car shampoo.
-Gtechniq G-wash.

In direct sun washing.
-dodo juice supernatural shampoo.
-swissvax car bath.

Cheers
Michael

I use Bilt-Hamber shampoo. Not cheap per bottle, but you only need a teaspoon in a bucket, so works out very cheap per wash. Dried without staining on a black Jeep that showed every blemish.

What's the best shampoo for iridium silver paintwork??

Couldn't say it's the "best" as haven't tried everything! Here are a few pics of mine post spray with VP Citrus pre wash, Obsession Wax Blizzard Snow Foam and Obsession Wax shampoo no LSP. These were customised for scent and colour.

Finish looks very good will have to try those products! Getting a karcher k2 as I want to wash my car myself now rather than visiting different pop up car wash on every corner!
Is it better to get a separate snow foam valance? Or shall I use the karcher one?

I've got a Nilfisk and the attachment that came with the PW was pants. Suspect Karcher may be the same but maybe wait to see before spending your money.

Dedicated snow foam lances cost anywhere from mid £20s to £40 odd.

Mine is from Autobrite Direct and bought on a group deal via Detailing World.

Have never bought from but directhoses sell lances and funnily enough based on their name hoses! Plan to replace the hose that came with PW as it is a pain to put away.

Some say pre wash applied via pump sprayer is as good as if not better than a foam lance. Lots say to do both. Guess you can only form a view once you have tried for yourself!

Without sounding like a rep for the products pictured they are very good. Only need 30ml of foam versus 100-200ml usually of other products. The shampoo gives plenty of suds and is very slick. I like that I've had input re colour and scent.

I've previously posted that I like Chemical Guys Glossworkz and Maxi Sudz II. The list has grown since then to include Dodo Juice Basics of Bling. The list goes on!

I use Angelwax Superior Automotive Shampoo (linky)

Works out quite pricy compared to others but I do really like it and a little goes a long way. Also use their Fast Foam through the foam lance.

I've tried, AG Shampoo, Zymol Bathe (IIRC, stupidly expensive), Zaino Z7, Meg's Shampoo Plus, Meg's Hyper Wash, Meg's Gold Class and Meg's NXT wash.

So briefly in steps what do you do when washing your car using a pw?
