C280 W203 and a vivaro crewcab
Hi all, a newby looking for help.
I have bought a w203 (I think) 06 plate C280 the was bought blind as a stolen recovered with no damage, any how, his and my idea of no damage are poles apart. To the point, does anyone know where I can get:-
A black front centre arm rest lid.
the cheapest way to get new keys and fobs.
I get the inpression I and going to need a heap of bits to bring the car back to its former glory.

Many thanks guys and Girls

Paul. Sorry to hear of your problems.

You might be lucky with ebay, but specialist Mercedes parts suppliers - new or breakers yards - will be your best bet if you need parts relatively quickly.

I'd suggest buying a copy of Mercedes Enthusiast - it's not great for journalistic talent - but there are lots of adverts from potential parts suppliers.

Regarding keys, I would imagine it will be a trip to the dealer. They'll want all sorts of documentation to prove who you are, and ownership of the car.

Good luck with the hunt for parts.

Do not buy keys off Ebay!

The dealers are really the only people who can help in this respect. You will need VIN details and clear evidence of title. They are not cheap however. £200+ a pop is the latest news.

As Bobby says, other bits are easier (and probably cheaper) to acquire.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. :)

Before buying any parts please check with your local MB parts counter. While it might not always be the cheapest it is always a genuine item, comes with 2 years warranty and sets a price for others to be measured by.

Personally unless something is significantly cheaper elsewhere I tend to get parts from the MB parts counter as you know what you're getting.

Find the part numbers for the bits you want (via the Russian site) then try lots of MB dealers at once by using partsreunited.co.uk - if nothing else it gives you a price for your local dealer to match! From using this site I've bought genuine parts from MB Manchester and Oxford as well as my local MB Ashford.

Is it true that all MB parts come with a 2 year warranty?

I always thought that the 2 year warranty only applied when the parts were also fitted by MB.

Can anyone clarify this?

I must echo what corned said.

Do NOT buy a key off ebay. The keys CANNOT be reprogrammed, and anyone with one to sell who says they can is lying. Pure and simple. The only option you have is a very expensive trip to an MB dealer, armed with the V5 and lots of proof of who you are and where you live.

Oh, and welcome to the forums. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news so early on, but we have your best interests at heart :)

Not sure on the timing but one member had a lot of trouble getting a part that he had fitted himself changed under warranty. Dealer wanted to send it back first for evaluation etc.

It doesn't really matter, and apologies if I'm missing something, but I don't think there was 280 version of the later W203, was there?

No worries fella, I bought from a salvage man so I get what I get, it was cheaper for reason I suppose.
