this is so untrue.
i have all the spring pads changed and (a lot shorter) new springs on 18"s and the difference is not al that much different from stock.. to be honest it was a tad harsh until i fit a set of decent tires...it feels so smooth now
There certainly was a marekd difference in ride quality between our (new) '98 e200 elegance and our (new) '01 e320 cdi avantgarde with the £500 sports wheel option (difda's i think). That said, there was also a marked difference between the aesthetics of the two cars
Bearing in mind the initial comparison was between an Elegance and an Avantgarde, how can you quantify his post as untrue please?
my old car was elegance on 18s with shorter shocks and was fine, my 203 is a elegance all stock and there is very little difference in ride comfort does that answer your question... lol you say something to someone and you have to prove it to the whole click
you lot crack me up
Not happy now, this car has some corrosion on the rear arches so obviously he is asking way to much money.
How much do you think it's going to cost to repair?

Anyone?
Depends on how good a job you want done I suppose, and how bad it is. What has he actually said?
Work on £100+vat a panel (price to me in my area) but really on a slab-sided shape such as an estate car and if you wanted to keep it you would either cut the arches out and replace (going to extremes) or at least blend it in down both sides. I'd say to walk but the reality is that most out there are corroded. You could go and see a "perfect" one only for the filler to crack in a few weeks and you have four rusty arches on your premium priced car, or you can buy a reasonably "known quantity" and control the quality of the work done to it.
His price wants adjusting significantly though.
Well, do a search a/trader, ebay buy now, pistonheads of similar age spec and mileage cars. Work on the basis they are immaculate, and private sale. Don't forget they are just asking prices not what the car is worth, then come back to us with your findings.
If you will keep it less than a year you could do a medium job on it ie not go too wild - not a huge amount of point in doing a fantastic job for someone else's benefit 3 owners down the line....
Or you could just buy a cheaper one?
Where in the UK are you?
Because the first car you mentioned was in Fife !!!!
ahhhh, comparing two different models of car, thats why I couldn't understand your posting
