Forgotten hot hatches...

Good times indeed.
Although it's easy to forget that they had heavy steering, pretty average brakes and only 70-ish bhp ( Mrs Spiky's SEAT is a 1.4 with 150bhp)
But they had character and were a hoot to drive.
Anyhoo, Mr Dazzler- here's your chance:

Ooooh 16 inch Speedlines. Jon Walsh’s Courtenay Turbo Nova was stunning. Strange how it all comes flooding back…

So today this happened…

Nova Sport......or is it?
Correct wheel trims but the Sport was built on base model trim (with added SR clocks), in which case the door mirrors on this car are wrong🤔
You know your Nova Sport! It’s genuine and in sensational condition. They’re retrofitted SR mirrors, original parts with the car. As is a brand new original interruor.

The original rear bumper needs some titivation, possibly UV damage, but otherwise it’s all absolutely spot on. Original twin 40s and air box all present and correct.

The Nova had killer looks compared to the Corsa that replaced it. That and the MK3 Fiesta RS turbo were great looking cars for what they were.

Stumbled upon it by chance less than 24 hours after the Nova Sport love-in on MBClub, I spotted it in an obscure car park as I passed. I asked around and found the owner he was happy to talk. He bought it four years ago having had a brand spanking new one when they were launched, and of all the hot hatches he had owned before and after - and he’d had a few - the Nova Sport was his favourite. It need a new piston ring but was otherwise in great condition. He retrofitted the SR mirrors as he remembered the original set up wasn’t great all those years ago.

Funny how these things happen.
Looks like it's got the Aln Motor Co. sticker in the rear window.
Details matter 👍

I drovd quite a few Alfetta-based cars back then. Three GTV 2.0's, an early GT 1.8, the 6 and a Guilia 1.8.

Great cars, light years ahead of the average British car of the day.

I was a teen when to me the perfect available was was a Ford Sierra GLS 2.0i or a Vauxhall Cavalier SRI130. Loved them both, SRI a bit more,.. but was a Ford fanboy
