Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

The marshalls couldn't pull the car backwards behind the barrier, their sandwiches were in the way...

It did look like that gap in the barriers wasn't suited to getting the car out.

It may well be that the assumption was that so close to the pit entry it simply acted as p[rotection for the marshals to allow them to push the car to the pits.

I wonder if with hindsight KM pulled in assuming it was a good spot because of the apparent gap in the barriers - but had he had a chance to think more would have rolled into the pit lane.

(Simple ?) question ..... do you think LH would have got past if he had ended up in the same position yesterday?

I do, simply because I believe he would be more aggressive earlier on when the car was cooler.

I don't think Lewis would have dropped so far down the pack in the first place, Valteri's defending on the opening lap was quite poor IMHO. He was clearly lacking confidence early on, thinking he had a puncture. He was also uncomfortable with the engine mode, referred to racing in that mode as a joke. Not his finest hour to be honest.

The recovery drive from Lewis on the other hand gave a decent illustration of his ability to race.

Valteri has put in some good recovery drives in the past (though I don't have a specific example in mind). He needed something of that in Monza this weekend.

Is Bottas the first racing driver in history to want less power?
Maybe... He is in prime position to reduce engine power via his right foot, i.e. not just on or off the gas.

I agree - my view is that LH would have managed it - he's got the ability to mix pure aggression with tactical finesse and strategic finesse.

(I'm convinced LH is still improving - he has yet to peak.)

Anyone bet on this weekend's podium outcome? YES! Guess the odds...

Perez confirms he is leaving RP! Vettel in??

Hulk and Perez together again at Alfa Romeo??

Surprising considering the amount of sponsorship Perez brings to Racing Point. Or does the team need that money considering Stroll is very rich man.
I doubt Seb will bring any better results than Perez to the team.

On another note, Sainz must be kicking himself signing that Ferrari contract considering McLaren are on the up and Ferrari are at rock bottom. And Danny Ric must be laughing knowing McLaren will have Mercedes PU's next season.

When one team, such as Mercedes, supplies engines to another, are the supplied engines always the same specification as that run by the supplying team?

Yes they are all the same spec. In the past I think this may not have been the case but they are for the last few seasons at least.

Ferrari's livery for their 1000th race and Mercedes doing their bit with the safety cars which will also be red

Is there anywhere for Perez to go?

I see it's official where Seb is of to for 2021.

I'm glad he will still be about as F1 would be a quieter without him. Haas need to pull the finger out as they make Ferrari look good.

Will this mean one team (the new Aston Martin) sponsoring another (Red Bull)?

I suppose it was inevitable the Seb would end up at 'Dustbin Martin' A name tag earned when the cars were 'hand' built at Newport Pagnell.....

The thing that is more surprising to me is that when I teamed up with Eddie Jordan in 1981, I had absolutely no idea where his team would eventually end up  Whoever would have thought that 'Eddie Jordan Racing' would, over almost 40 years, morph into Aston Martin Grand Prix.
That is beyond even a James Bond plot!
