Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

A Honda F1 exit really is a significant move. It could be a real disaster or opportunity for Red Bull, but I fear that this is the thin end of the wedge for the manufacturer supported, bloated F1 that we have seen in the last decade.
One thing is 'for sure', incoming F1 boss 'Steve Sunday' really is going to have to be at the very top of his game if we are to continue to enjoy our Sundays as we have in recent times.
....but then again, I are only a engineer..... :dk:

Which was the point I was making as I can’t see MB supplying Red Bull...
Well, it's not easy to see where Red Bull will get an engine from. They've been less than complimentary about Renault. Mercedes have said no in the past. Maybe they can suck up to Ferrari?

If Red Bull Don't agree an engine deal, then due to F1 rules Renault would supply them anyway due supplying the least amount of teams, e.g. only themselves.

They only have themselves to blame, Renault have now sorted out their engine and it's strong, Honda in 3rd place and have gone backwards this year actually.

Wonder how that would work out - Renault having to supply RB after what's been said, with the Renault team getting stronger and RB being a major competitor - don't think that would be a happy marriage, and would not be surprised to see what they'd supply to RB being slightly second grade compared to their own team!

The current F1 regulations require that engine suppliers give demonstrably the same hardware and software to supplied teams.
The installation in the car, well, that is a whole different story.
Certain F1 designers are famous for 'shrink wrapping' any mechanical parts with aero efficient bodywork with scant regard for cooling or practicality.

Well Hamilton will/has signed up with MB for the next two years a wise move, given whats going on in F1 it will give him the most wins and should give him the most F1 championships, after that I see it as downhill all the way,but then I say that as I have no interest at all with the E cars,as I have said before I would not go to the bottom of my street to see them, whats going on in F1 shows just how clever Berni was,we have t make the most of the next couple of years with F1 we are fast getting to the end of that racing era.

F1 is long past it's sell by date. Club level car racing and MotoGP are far more interesting.

Other opinions are available

As are other more interesting threads I guess...

It will be an alien world for F1 this weekend at the Nurburgring.
I have tested on Pirelli wet tyres in single figure temperatures and found they would simply not 'switch on' at all. We had to put on some good old British Avon wets to allow any testing to take place!
I have also turned up at the 'ring to test directly after the Monaco GP in May and been snowed off......
You might just hear a little more weather talk this weekend.

Horrific weather at the 'Ring already this morning for testing. Its the first time back at the track since 2013.

(FYI, its not on the Nordschleife, but the GP track)

You are right - Renault have clearly won more races than Honda this year.

And studying the WCC table then Red Bull are obviously way behind all the Renault powered teams.

Slightly OT but did anyone see the FIA Karting incident from a few days ago? A 23 year old driver called Corberi (who's father owned the circuit) crashed out and blamed a driver for it. He then threw his bumper at the driver and then attacked him in the pit lane area after the race. His father joined in too! Shocking behaviour and drivers have called for him to be banned for life.

With the Honda exit, I wonder if Red Bull will be looking to continue the project on and recruit a certain Andy Cowell? I don't think it's what he would want to do though, his decision to leave Mercedes HPP was to do something new and not the same job in another team.

Another irrelevant piece of information - Vettel revealed yesterday that he has shares in Aston Martin. I wonder if he had them prior to signing or did Mr Stroll throw them in as part of the deal?

So bad, FP1 has just been cancelled! Shame for Schumacher and Illot, first FP1 and it gets cancelled. It's the fog that is causing the problem, the helicopter can't fly through this weather and so they can't run.

Give it 10mins and it will be scotching heat on track knowing that region :D
