Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

Not sure why race control kept the safety car out for so long after the Lando Norris car was picked up,still LH won and he now looks odds on for the championship.

You are right - Renault have clearly won more races than Honda this year.

And studying the WCC table then Red Bull are obviously way behind all the Renault powered teams.
No need to be sarcy mate, Renault have improved, Honda this year haven't.

I didn't say Renault were now the best team, but they are improving.

2022 should be an interesting year for sure with rule changes and which engine Red Bull end up with.

Did anyone else expect to see the start we saw? I didn't and that was a great move from VB to retain 1st.

I was unsure how it would pan out thinking it'd be Russia II. Good race to be fair and man of the day was Hulkenberg without a doubt - I don't think I need to tell you about how he came about to be in the race but he deserved driver of the day IMO!

LH? On another level. 91 race wins - what a driver! VB had bad luck but LH took him before he sadly had to retire (unless I read that wrong from after the race results) Such a shame about LN. Awesome to see MS junior presenting LH senior MS lid - seems a true gent and I hope he does well for the future and such a shame he missed driving an F1 yesterday (as with Illot).

Danny Ric? Got to love the guy as he is such a great talent and it's always great to hear from him AND been 3rd? Loved it and he is one of my favourite drivers from talent and charisma alone. I wonder where CA tattoo will be and where (but secretly don't care as long as DR showed him he done the podium)

Crofty? They should call him thrush. Nico Rosberg? What a borefest he is! I don't usually have the volume on although I did this race to see if they could change my mind. I'll watch the highlights on Ch4 as I prefer the commentary there.

Anyway, sorry to bore you guys and girls with my thoughts. Hope you enjoyed what you saw/see and Happy Sunday to you all and I look forward to the next race weekend :thumb:

Who was the Channel 4 commentator? Hamilton controlled the race, despite what he said he only drove fast enough to maintain the gap to second, yet as he crossed the line the commentator's voice went up an octave as he screamed with shock the Hamilton won.

That would be Ben Edwards. Just the same as David Croft on Sky F1 in that he thinks if he shouts it makes it more exciting:doh:
Neither of them are much good IMHO.

I often wonder if they are trying to be Murray, they are not in the same league at all.

Quite sad that we choose to watch things and mute the commentators. ;)

Great 91st win for Lewis today. Happy for him and great gesture from Mick Schumacher passing over one of his fathers helmets.
Enjoyed the Kimi and Rubens Zoom interview. Two of my favourite drivers.
Good to see Danny Ric Back on the podium.

Even bigger shame you feel the need to keep mentioning it. 😊

I can't help myself, in some ways I must just be like him. ;)

Must admit the "cultural icon, activist & musician" stuff I read earlier had me scratching my head after I spit my beer out. :)

As I said, no doubt he is a great driver and will soon break another record.
I'd just prefer he concentrated on that as that is what he is good and and what he understands.

I think his reply to the journalist that asked a few races back if he may boycot the race said it all. ;)

Depends on where Bottas finishes in the remaining 6 races.

If Lewis wins the next 2 and Bottas gets fastest lap, he will be 81 ahead with 100 remaining but that requires Lewis to DNF or be outside the top 10 in more than one occasion (unlikely)
If Lewis wins the next 3 and Bottas finishes 2nd with fastest lap, he will be 87 point gap with only 75 available.

In realistic terms, Lewis should secure the WDC in the next 3 races

Theoretically, how many more wins does LH need this year to wrap up the title?

He is on 230 points with 6 races remaining and he nearest rival on 161.

Quite a few combinations given that second place still gets 18 points.

He would need to get to the point where even with DNF rivals cannot catch him.

Hypothetically, if neither Mercedes driver would win the championship and all points were currently equal, who would you like to see become world champion?
For me it would be Daniel Ricciardo. Great driver, and a great personality too. Infectious enthusiasm and always smiling
