Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

I say max, Hamilton gets mardy if its not going his way, don't get me wrong he's a good driver but not a great driver put him in the Williams see how he does
Max would certainly give anyone a run for their money. To not recognise Lewis as a great driver is frankly delusional. By any objective analysis, he is one of the best there has been even though he’s not the easiest person to like...

Put him in a different car and see i could race my
Unlike Verstappen of course
I notice no 1 has mentioned putting him in the Williams lets see his greatness (and i actually quite like him) its a totally different era today

In his post race interview on Ch4 GR actually said he had noticed the car not running properly, crabbing on the straights, obviously talked with his race engineer, said he stayed out 1 extra lap to see if things improved, they did not hence box for new boots.

... would you like to try again in English?

Putting Lewis in a Williams would achieve what exactly? It might show that the Williams is at best a mid-pack runner. However good he or anyone else is as a driver won’t be enough to overcome the deficiencies of that car right now and achieve a pole position or race win. Could Hamilton help the team to turn it around over the course of a season or two? Maybe, maybe not. Would be interesting, but ain’t going to happen.

In the end, the best combination of team, driver and car will be the most successful. Always has been, always will be. There is no doubt that Hamilton and MB have worked well together to develop what is the best package at the moment. Both Toto and James Alison are quick to praise Hamilton’s contribution, they know more about him than I do. In 2017 (I think) Ferrari had the better car, but not for the first time, dropped the ball when leading handsomely mid-season, so the overall package wasn’t up to the MB package.

I‘m interested to see if Seb can return to form next year in the RP/Aston Martin and would love to see Sergio in a Red Bull next season.

All Sunday proved was thar the mercedes is the best car.
If you put any of the current F1 drivers in it they would likely achieve similar results, they are all fantastic drivers.
George had absolutely nothing to lose and no real pressure to prove anything, it would have been his childhood dream come true.

I imagine if the other drivers had no real pressure (bottas for example) then they would just thrash the thing around without a care in the world and come out on top in such a car.

It would be similar if you put them all in a williams, mid pack results. But with no pressure they would probably do better.

Maybe so.

If that is the case, why hasn't Bottas finished first or second in every race this season.?
Bad luck has played some part, but he has been beaten fair and square in supposedly the best car.

I think you do Red Bull, and Verstappen a disservice. He often splits the Mercedes and his car is only a fraction behind the Mercedes on performance.
As for Russell, stepping into a strange car (that was too small), missing pole by 0.026sec and leading the race he should have won shows he is an excellent driver. I would challenge the likes of his teammate Latiffe to have been in that position.

Yes the car has a big part to play, but some of that also comes from the input and feedback from the driver regarding set up etc. Look at Max and Albon fo example.

Max hasn’t got the mental aptitude honed by years of practice. He makes too many irrational manoeuvres.

Don't forget he is still only 23. Lewis won his first championship when he was 24.
Max will also improve and make less errors as he grows older.

I think Spider10 is trolling if he thinks LH isn't a great driver.

Because bottas us under pressure to perform in that car.
If he just got in it for the day, Drivers world title sewn up, constructors title sewn up.....OK son, of you go in your small shoes and drive the best car in the world, no pressure, just enjoy it and have fun, show us what you can do.

Or, come on son, that Lewis guy keeps beating you all the time! We've got that max guy in that red bull catching you! You're in the best car in the world!! Get out there and win will you!

They are all professional racing drivers, stepping into a ' strange' car really shouldn't be an issue, its not like they've gone from a fiat panda to a veyron.

I totally disagree.

Any sportsperson competing at any level will have a shit-fit if anything to do with their own kit is a millimetre out of line.

If I do a sportive I can only use my bike. Even a different pair of gloves throw me off kilter.

When I do triathlons even a different pair of goggles make a difference.

A lot of it is psychological of course but it all adds up. It’s all about marginal gains. Everything must be perfect.

Im not trolling in my opinion he's not a great driver ,such as Schumacher, senna, clark etc Hamilton without the car ,is a good driver same as Max has said 90% of the grid could get a podium in that car

I agree.....and disagree.

I race motorbikes and know what you mean.

But as a boy, now a man, I and a vast majority of young men wanted to race formula 1, George has got to do it, he's been given the chance to live out his boyhood dream(and many of ours), he has the experience and knowledge to drive the car to its potential, he also doesn't have to worry about anything apart from his squashed toes!

I honestly don't think it would have put him off once he'd got going, I think he was extremely professional but also very happy and so excited that those little things didn't matter on that day.

In your opinion, based on what?

What else is Max going to say?

Max says a lot of things
