French Toll Road Sanef Tag

Not sure if this thread mentions this, but I believe Sanef have the contract for tolling at Dartford crossing, and perhaps this autumn their tag will work there too. For those that use this regularly, may be worth getting it now at Eurotunnel price, before we get UK charges with 100% uplift!!!

I have had my Sanef tag for 3 years now. Brilliant. When I got it they said the plan was for it to be used for the Dartford crossing. Still not happened but who knows.
I also have the Italian Telepass which is the same idea as the French one but a much larger, uglier box. On the Italian motorways you can go through at a fair speed though.

I only got my Sanef UK tag this year, and it was on the website then.
Was recently in Italy, and noticed the barriers lift pretty swiftly after the tag is read.

The sanef tag sold to the UK already has an uplift built in ;) If you have a french bank account, you get get the french sanef tag, which is cheaper.

Presumably you have to apply in French also ??

Also just back from a trip to the south of france and back, and again the toll tag saved a lot of time. Roads were not as busy as last trip but still great to have.

Always amuses me pulling up passing lines of french registered cars. We had dinner with friends there and they said that for some reason loads of French people don't even have the tags. Even they have spent years in their RHD cars out there and just have never bothered getting one. Bizarre.

Indeed. French LiberT tag site: https://www.bipandgo.com/ UK Offering: https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/subscription The prices on the French one have actually changed since I last looked, so they are much closer to the English ones, which I'm surprised about. M.

Aprr.fr allows a tag with a uk credit/debut card.

Use chrome and it auto translates.

Customer service is great and can understand online translations..

Further to this first post of mine, I have now read the Dartford Crossing is to be barrier less, and use ANPR. So no use having the tag there after all.

And the car fee is increasing from £2 to £2.50

Ordered my tag on Wednesday & it arrived on Thursday morning. Impressed so far...

BTW [ignore if you've read it]: There was a rather dramatic article in the ST Motoring section yesterday about the French speed cops, who are [allegedly] targeting UK drivers as quick-hit cash cows....and they're tapping in to the ferry & tunnel operators booking systems to spot likely cars, especially those travelling in groups.

Apparently Clarkson got a 3-day ban whilst filming their latest dead-horse flogging DVD, which seems like fair justice to me.

Us and Sanef tags

Took up the offer on the Eurotunnel website. Us two and the dog.
Drove down to Cannes for a party, and back, 1600 +summat miles.
Excellent easy experience.
Just held up the tag in the windscreen, not too high, not too low, in the middle. No need to 'stick it' anywhere.
At the last moment it 'beeps' and the lights change and the barrier opens.
It will live in the glove box now.
Recommended!
Gave the B Class a good squirt at one point, it read 205 kph. Solid as a rock and quiet too.

I am doing the Cannes run late July, via Dijon and Lyon. Can you say what the toll cost was? Last time I looked on the web it said around 99 Euros I think, each way. Does that sound about right?

Looking forward to getting the C Class AMG Sport Estate loaded up and on the AutoRoute - but will be wary of the Gendarmerie!

Look here:
ViaMichelin: Michelin route planner and maps, restaurants, traffic news and hotel booking

Not only will it tell you the tolls, but will also estimate fuel useage ;)

viaMichelin tolls for frane are quite accurate. Add a couple euros to account for exhange rate on the liberT tag and monthly charges, but otherwise ViaMichelin is spot on (they gather the data from the highways agency...)

annual fee for Eurotunnel offer is Euro 6, falling to Euro 3 from year 2; monthly use fee of Euro 5 subject to Euro 10 max per year.

Annual fee for the above is Euro 16, with monthly use fee of Euro 1.6 with no limit.

Eurotunnel offer works better for me.

Addendum:-

Just finished two European trips totalling 4,000 miles, and have received my first two ATMB bills.

Don't know if there's been an error, but the only charges imposed have been for the actual tolls. Nothing for the tag - no annual fee nor any 'deposit', or monthly use fee for the tag.

As mentioned buy someone in an earlier post, when approaching the 'T' bay, the tag was held in the recommended windscreen location by my wife, to avoid the necessity of sticking it to the screen, and it worked a treat.

It permitted me to get in front of speed merchants who had earlier overtaken, but were stuck in the queues for the non tag tolls. It must cause them some vexation. :bannana:

As an aside, my 212 was totally without problem, never skipped a beat, and the 265 bhp engine was easily capable of out performing or matching most of the other cars I encountered. I've started to run on Shell V Nitro+ or BP Ultimate and the engine was virtually silent at all speeds. The Switzerland, Italy, Austria run (2627 miles), almost entirely motorway as upon the arrival the car was left at the hotel and we used public transport, returned 49.6 MPG, and for the French run (1363 miles), where there was an equal amount of motorway and town driving, including a long jam on the M25, another for the Dartford Crossing, and two horrendous navigations of the Péripherique, returned 47.6 mpg.

We've had a SANEF tag for 6 years now and my wife thinks it's one of the best things we ever got, as it saves her leaning over to pay at the péages, all our cars being rhd.

It worked fine in the XK, although it has a heated front screen, with waving it half way up the windscreen, yet with the CL it won't work from inside and she has to wave it outside. :dk:

Tip ........ some péages have sensors at the very entrance to the T lane. Waving the doofer here often activates the barrier ahead and you can drive straight through.

........... but it's not all, so be prepared to slow down!

Sanef tag

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. JUST BACK FROM FRANCE AND WORKED FINE NO ISSUES. I PLACED MINE AS CLOSE TO BOX AT BACK OF MORROR AS POSSIBLE. THERE IS ONLY ABOUT HALF AN INCH OF FREE HATCHED AREA BUT IT WASNT A PROBLEM. SET UP COSTS ABOUT £20 ( OFFER VIA EURO TUNNEL ). IT SAVES TIME WHEN THERE ARE QUEUES AT TOLLS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE 30 KPH BOOTHS AS THESE ARE TAG DEDICATED AND NEVER ANY QUEUES AT ALL. MADE DRIVING OVER THERE A REAL PLEASURE AND YOU NEVER GET TIRED OF THAT LITTLE BLEEP THAT PRECEADS THE BARRIER OPENING AS IF BY MAGIC.:thumb:

Thank you shouty man!!! :D
But yes, just back from France myself and the Tag is a god-send for the solo driver through the mostly empty autoroutes of France.

They use this system in Ireland around Dublin. It is superb, and should see the end of the Dartford Crossing delay lottery. It's worth 50p

I discovered recently that the toll booths away from Dublin seem to have the same frequency as the APRR tag. Plenty of beeps from the machine, although in reality it did not open the barrier so I assume I was not charged!
