Greetz to Admin, and all the supporting Member's here!:D

Great to have found you through HonestJohn, and hope to get good advice from you all!

It's snowing here today, so I'm stuck inside perusing the NET after purchasing my new car the...A170 Classic CDi (2003)

Merry Christmas everyone!:bannana:

Hi welcome to the forum :thumb: Happy Christmas and Happy New Year

Hello and welcome to the forum, good bunch on here and always ready to help (sadly if you own a old C class like me, you be needing help more than others!)

Another 1066 area member.
Welcome to what I have found to be wonderful forum

Many thanks for your warm welcome! :)

Although I've only had my A170 since last Wednesday; with NO faults yet, and having read up (too late!) on my model and the issues that could arise through this forum and others, I'm already getting itchy feet on possible problems ahead with the auto gearbox etc...thinking now of selling it whilst the going is good! :(

Welcome aboard! Nice to see another local member :)

Thanks Ed! :)

I'm from Battle...you?

I see your partner has a A140...any major problems or regular issues with it over the years?

My name is Leigh actually:D

I'm in St Leonards, near the Beauport Park Hotel.

No real problems, it's a manual for a start so no gearbox issues. It's done 155k miles now, has been very reliable. The usual age/wear related items had to be sorted, rear suspension, ignition switch and it has an intermittent starter motor problem which will require a new motor at some point but the engine and subframe have to be dropped to get access to it!

The rear washer pipe has come off a couple of times inside the tailgate but I have managed to sort a permanent fix for this now.

Other than that it's been a good little car.:)

@Leigh, sorry for calling you Ed! Was just looking at your username, and the first letters came Ed (Edward)! Where do you take your Merc's for repairs & servicing?

@Lady, do you live anywhere near Wiggington or Tring? :)

No problem fella. Well the A class and the 450 SEL get looked after by a local garage opposite where I work, who are not MB specialist, just a general garage.

The SL600 is a different ball game, Olly & Jack @ PCS in Horndean look after this baby for me. There are many many threads about them on this forum, just do a search and make your own mind up. It's a bit of a trek but very worthwhile :)

Got rid of the A170 after a head gasket issue arose; the Dealer took it back with a full refund!

Had looked at getting the newer model, new shape, 2005 A170 auto, and when I found one, it had just had it's autobox renewed...seems they still can't get these autoboxes to last! Anyway, I've now got an Audi A3 TDi DSG auto, and what a difference!
