Thought I'd post my figures for group perusal:

£60 to fill tank

"S" Mode:

200 miles in urban commute
220 miles in mixed

"W" Mode:

220 miles in urban commute
260 miles in mixed

Does this sound right?

What's the MPG?

"S" mode is ridiculous fun :-)))

Assuming £1.10p per unleaded (average), £60 bought you 12 UK gallons, so your MPGs were:

"S" Mode:
200 miles in urban commute 16.7mpg
220 miles in mixed 18.3mpg

"W" Mode:
220 miles in urban commute 18.3mpg
260 miles in mixed 21.7mpg

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought 'W' only sets you off in 2nd gear rather than actually changing the way the car performs and therefore shouldn't have a great deal of effect on MPG.

'S' mode is a standard mode unlike the 'S' mode in my old BMW which would hold gears for longer before changing up! Therefore, it's not the 'S' mode that's ridiculous fun, its the car itself thats ridiculous fun!!!

You're right Christ, W mode is there to lower the possibility of wheel spin whilst setting off. Which is fruitless on a C43 arf arf :D

it also makes the gear changes happen at lower revs, so it can effect mpg.

Sounds about right to me. I never used to calculate it too carefully, but my C43 used to do 17ish on the work run. What the hell, it's only money - the C43's not a town car anyway..

On a fast motorway drive (let's say between 90-110, where legal of course..) it used to turn in mid to high twenties, which I thought was pretty respectable. And with power aplenty in reserve at that kind of speed.. effortless .

Cheers,

Gaz

The only time I ever worked it out in mine was on a steady motorway journey through france. Sitting at 85 on cruise control, with aircon on, got 28mpg.

240 miles local and 280 on a run with Sprint-booster fitted and quite a heavy right foot. :)

"W" - never use it - assumed it stood for "Wuss" :-)

Aren't these cars awesome fun though?...and surprisingly wieldy on country lanes. I can't fault my car at all (OK, so it could do with being just a tad louder....)

That's exactly what I think of mine! I've had it in W a few times, I've found one good thing about that, as you pull away in 2nd it makes a gorgeous low down grunt!

As for the noise the cars are loud enough, there's just a lot of sound deadening inside. I suspect if it was any louder it would become tiresome on long motorway journeys, as they are they're really quiet when just cruising. Saying that though, a few less baffles in the silencer wouldn't be missed .

I've also found it surprisingly agile on the twisties, the car doesnt understeer at all despite the weigt of a V8 on the front axle, and has very little body roll!

I put mine in W mode when my missus is driving. It stands for 'Wife'.

I put it in S when I'm driving. It makes her 'Scream'

Agreed. My regular female passenger states "its not a Ferrari you know - calm down!"

Driving in W just isn't the same. S is sublime- or maybe as others have said, its the car ;-)

Will post pics just as soon as i can work out how to :-s

As far as I know, the W setting only really works as W when you treat the loud pedal in a "relaxed" way ;) As soon as you start mashing your foot to the floor it switches back to S internally anyway..until you calm down again, then it's back to the lower rpm changes etc.

As for mpg - I've managed about 32 on combined runs before and in most cases I've gotten 300 miles before the light comes on unless I've been REALLY silly  On the whole though my average is high 20's I'd guess so I can live with that  For a big V8 it's not as thirsty as most people would have you believe - keep it well serviced and watch the tyre pressures and you should get better figures :)

Cheers,
Mark

Need to refill tonight. Currently on 345 miles on one tank.

Long trip to Silverstone on Wednesday - sustained 70mph cruise. However 4 adults & boot full of stuff

Plus 3 days commute - 75 miles in total. 1 occupant.

Edit: filled up at 351 miles. Took 57 litres. 28mpg overall. Not too bad considering the circumstances.

Resurrecting this thread - W mode is great for relaxed driving - low note startin of in 2nd

I've just brimmed the tank with 60 litres of super ( yea, she was low!) so will see how this tank goes over the coming weeks

Most of t mileage will be weekend / evening quiets as a second car so can predict low 20s

20.5 mpg to that last tank - however quite a few " show of strengths " so to speak showing my friends / family what its capable off

I'm trying different fuels to see what suits it best
