Hi,

I am experiencing bad fuel economy on my E270 CDI for the last couple of months.
I am sticking with the same fuel station that I usually get my diesel over the last 2 years. It used to average around 8 litres / 100 km in urban driving. On Highway it used to be 6.5l /100 km.

On my last fill up it gave me an average of 12 litres/100km. I haven't got a chance to check it on highway.

I usually drive shorter distances and its fuel economy was great about a month ago. A full tank of diesel used to last a month but last month I had to fill her up thrice and I didn't drive it on highways either just normal urban driving.

See attached photo, I reset the trip meter on my last fill up 5 days ago and I drove just 272 km since then.

I have also noticed a turbo lag now if i try to kickdown while driving normally. On kickdown it has also started giving black smoke now. The power and pick up is great though.

I have recently changed the thermostat valve since it was faulty.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Here's the image of the odometer after I start the car this morning and drove it to my workplace.

I went to the dealership today and the service manager without hooking up the computer recommended replacement of injectors. After test drive he was of the opinion that injectors are throwing more fuel (in fuel to air mix during combustion).
Injector test is going to cost around GBP 100. He recommended getting injector nozzle kits instead of buying the complete injectors.
Can anybody recommend a source where I can get these?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you cleaned out the EGR ? I'd try that before spending large lumps. Martin.

The service manager should ve offered a diagnostic...sounds like you need a second opinion and what Martin suggested is worth doing.
