Fumes and smell inside cabin advice needed

Hi folks

Kind of a urgent matter.. I had both CATS replaced a few months ago and since then the smell has been getting worse... Smells like diesel inside the cabin and you can also see white fumes on a bright sunny day... The first CAT that is connected to the engine / turbo im sure is leaking.. Ive had headaches while driving but usually have the windows open..

Can someone confirm if this could be carbonmonoxide?

I would doubt it is carbonmonoxide it is more than likely that you have a diesel leak on the engine causing this smell but is worth getting checked out

thanks for the reply.. got the car booked in for next week .. smell only started once the cat was replaced so will get that checked out.. does anyone know what else it could be?

A good starting point is to remove the top engine cover and look for leaks / pools of diesel around the injectors.
When the engine gets hot, the diesel starts to boil and gives off the fumes and smoke you refer to.

using logic, I think you are on the right track with exhaust.

My money is on a leaking injector.

still havnt managed to sort this out .. would a leaking injector explain the sluggishness pickup sometimes ??

i doubt there is anything in the cat it drove fine acceleration was fine too up until a few weeks ago .. will see what the mechanic suggests..

does anyone here know of a good honest indie? apart from TJ o' neils in the glasgow area

Blackc55 - thanks you were correct it was the pipe that goes inside the injector it was leaking the rubber seal was replaced and it seems fine no smell of diesel however i still have the matter of the slow pickup it seems fine at cold but once engine is warmed up the performance is slugess..

The car is due a service so i may do that and see if the problem persists
