Hi all new here please could somebody tell me whether there is a dipstick to check the gearbox oil on a 2003 clk 320 ? if so where about?

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

Gearboxes were not fitted with a dipstick, MB dealers can sometimes supply one, there are some alternative versions available on line. Run a search on here to find out more.

Be aware that when checking the level it should be done with the gearbox oil at 80 Degrees C

Ok Thanks
Do you know where the dipstick goes ?
And which dipstick I need or any preferred site for purchase?

Thanks again charlie

The dipstick tube for the gearbox is at the back of the engine bay, there is a cap over the tube and I believe that you have to break the cap off and then replace it after checking.

It is not something you need to do regularly, do you have a MB independent near to you that could check it for you? It is important that it is checked at the correct temperature.

I imagine Mercedes are the best place to go although eBay might be worth a try.. A 2003 CLK should be a W209.

Do you know when the gearbox oil was last changed? Around every 40,000 miles is the recommended change interval.

Enjoy the car, I have the same engine in my C Class:thumb:
