Getting a bit bored of the CLK...(are you bored with your car?)

I am bored with my car, but it's a boring car. It is a diesel estate, purchased as a tool rather than a toy, and as a tool it fits the bill perfectly. I find myself thinking that I cannot really justify getting rid of it, although a series of trips to the garage over the last few months has loosened up my thinking considerably.

The question is whether to keep this car and get a second car, which I could justify as Mrs. Kusanku and I share this one, or to stick with one car and change the estate for something a bit more fun but less practical?

I have fancied a Jag XF for a long time. What do you make of yours gary350? If it was my main car, I would still go for a diesel, so would it be any different to an e-class after a while?

I suffered with this syndrome involving motorcycles since I was 16 years old and went to buy a new pair of jeans. I left home on a Racy looking Triumph Tiger Cub and arrived back on a Rocket Gold Star (With the Jeans) I was still doing this last year and sold my last bike in April. I have owned every configuration of engine and frame combinations ever produced from singles to six cylinder. Now retired from motorcycling atfer 44 years, all my friends and family say it wont last. We will see. I'm still waiting for my mate to make up his mind about selling the M5 If I buy that there will be no room for any motorcycles, that is of course unless I rent yet another garage. I will keep you posted.

Im 20 years old, had about 10 cars since i passed my test 2 years ago. ill buy a car, use it for say a few months and then get bored and sell it. my first few cars were boring, just cars to get me by. i had for my first car a honda civic for £250 then a vauxhall vectra diesel estate for £500, rover 820i "1998", toyota supra 3.0 "1986", bentley eight "1988", mercedes 300se "1988", mercedes 300se "1992", jaguar xj6 sovereign "1996", mercedes cl420 "1996" and my current car a mercedes c220 elegance "1996" which is a stop gap at the moment. im looking at the moment for a possible mercedes s500 w140, mercedes r129 sl500 or w126 560sel or possibly a C43 w202. i think im having a midlife crisis at 20 !!!!!!
before you all start thinking "how does he insure these cars" im a car trader with car trader insurance :D

I will just add this. A young man in his early twenties lives just over the road from me and for the last 18months or so he was driving a 535 BMW badged up as an M5 with some nice Alpina wheels and centres. A couple or so of months ago the BM has been sold I presume. Then he was diving a banger for a few months, then one day last week he turs up in W Plate CL AMG 55 in black and it looks a minter, and sounds awesome, so having sold the last bike and not getting any nearer to my mates M5 I had a look at the CL Range and could not believe how cheap they go for. So that might turn into a different option if the M5 fails to materialise. I would assume that in those missing months he was cash rich and looking foe the CL AMG 55

I too suffer with OCB - obsessive car buying disorder. I've been toying with replacing the W202 C43 with an eighties 300SL or similar, then canned that idea and thought about getting an early Coxster 2.7, or a Lotus Elise as a track 'slag' to generally use and abuse as a way of getting into track days over the summer months.

Recently been tempted to sack off the C55 and get an SLK55 instead, but the C55 has so many gizmos on it and is such a good all rounder that I think I might instantly regret it...

The internet has a lot to answer for - it's just too easy to window shop and tempt yourself into doing something silly

After my post yesterday... I've changed my mind. I'm not bored at all. I just want more cars. Today driving up in the rain was some feat. I was practically wrestling the car for controll. Overtaking a bus saw me into a slide. I admit I was a bit viloent there. But it lasted till I started to move back into my lane.

I'm just so surprised at how an old pre facelift w202 can blow my socks off. It only has a poxy 2.0l motor. I'm not even heavy footed. I know it's the rain cause all of this. I'm just thankful I have plenty of experience off public highways to assist me on them. I'm sure had I been a complete **** I would have spun the at and hurt someone. I'm sure that had I not had the ability to regain control it would have been lost for good.

Still I'm sure there are many things I could have done differently to avoid what happened.

If it's still like this when I go home london traffic can be damned. I'm not driving anywhere above 20. I'll be too tierd for adverse boll0cks like that.

Is it still stupid of me not to be scared of my car given it's traits?

Exactly my thoughts! I don't want to replace any of mine, I want to ADD to them! :D

The XF is the best car I have driven (coming up to 67) I love the looks, it feels right for me, smooth as silk to drive and when I change it will be for another XF. After owning German cars since about 1980 (20 years with BMW 10 with MB) I needed a change, I test drove everything on the market and as an after thought test drove the XF after reading a what car review, after 5 mins I was hooked.

Comparing it to the E class, roughly same size, same price, thats were the similarity ends.
